Why do some people consider suicide as a solution?!

Question: What is it about killing yourself, that solves the problems in your life? If anything, it creates an abundance of new problems for your family, friends or loved ones. Why is it that people don't want to ask for help when they get depressed? My brothers best friend just tried to kill himself today by shooting himself. The guy is still alive due to the quick action of 9-1-1 and people who care, but what brings a person to this point? Its so sad.

The kind of desperation, loss of self worth and loss of intuition which is attendant in severe and major depression.

1: Desperation. We want to find a way out of our pain.
2: Loss of self worth: We feel that we are utterly worthless, beyond help and best simply removed.
3: Loss of intuition: We feel that nobody cares about us and would simply consider us a burden were we to seek help.

It is a dangerous belief cycle which feeds back on itself so insidiously. Sometimes the first inkling loved ones get is when the tragic event takes place. Often, suicide attempts are described as "a cry for help". The person attempting suicide doesn't see it this way. It is a genuine attempt to end the pain and suffering which has spiralled out of control.

I hope that anyone reading this, who is considering suicide will recognise that something is wrong and SEEK HELP, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

1: Your pain is TEMPORARY. Please don't seek a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
2: You matter. The universe is not the same without you here to observe it.
3: People DO care about you, but you have to let them know you're finding things difficult.

I needed to get that off my chest.
Thank you for the opportunity.

I would say that it's feeling like you're worthless and the world would be better off without you, and that you would be better off not having to go through that kind of pain. Or that life is meaningless and there's no point to being alive anymore.

in my case because i have no confidence to do anything about it and i dont get on with my family, suicide seems a good answer

Teh thoughts of "they'd be better off without me". They think if they were gone they'd be free of the pain and so would their friends and family.

If it isn't due to an imbalance of chemicals in the brain, then usually it's due to the social inter-action with others. Columbine, Virginia Tech. and others like that were judged by some and they didn't like it. They felt trapped in a situation that they couldn't figure out for themselves. Frustration then leads to a final decision to kill themselves to be free of the trap that they are in. Then, they turn to the ones they feel are responsible for their plight and decided to take some of them along. It all could have been avoided.
