Question: I have been prescribed Adderall XR for my atenttion deficit disorder, I took it to the pharmacy to get it filled. I'm waiting to take it until Monday, when I go to school. But I want to know people's personal experinces taking this medication. Thanks!!

The single classification of medicines most closely associated with the temporary relief of ADHD symptoms in some persons with ADHD (not everyone with ADHD) is the central nervous system stimulants - alerting agents. The weakest stimulant - alerting agent is coffee - caffeine compounds; stronger meds include Ritalin, Dexedrine, Adderall, Adderall XR, etc. Know of one case where an adult took Adderall XR at a very low dosage (5 mg) and the Adderall XR kept the person up for 36 hours and had to be discontinued because of that (interrupted sleep). The adult eventually shifted to a much weaker stimulant for ADHD which worked better. Good luck.
For about the first month, I was very irritable. Now the biggest side effects I have are difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite and dry mouth. It has worked very well for my attention issues though, so it's a small inconvenience.
