Some symptoms I had were: heart palpitations, dizzyness, fear of heart attacks or strokes, fear of death, constant worrying, and numbness in my face and lips.

Doctor wanted to give me drugs, but I opted for none. Then I asked about herbs, and tried his two suggestions: valerian root and st johns wort. I think it was the valerian root, but I had the most psychotic dreams in my life on that stuff. Worse than when you are fevery.

I went for months until I made a connection (for me at least) that eating sweets would cause me more anxiety. So I stopped eating doughnuts, cookies, candy, ice cream, cake, etc, and stopped drinking soda, hot chocolate, etc. Chocolate was especially effective at causing me symptoms. Maybe it's the caffeine, maybe not.

Also, I discovered that certain brands of deodorant, shaving cream, mouthwash, or cologne had a similar effect.

As far as talking myself out of the attacks, I got used to the signs of an attack and started a sort of personal biofeedback where I began to gain conscious control over calming my heart rate, galvanic skin response, and thought processes. Eventually, I stopped having the attacks because I could "ignore" the triggers that usually started one. Or at least, if not ignore, I could control my response.

If drugs help people do that, great. But as for myself I didn't want to be hooked on them for life with all the side-effects and such.

Take some deep calming breaths, concentrate on being relaxed, tell yourself Que Sera, Sera, whatever will be will be.

Good luck.

This is what xanax is prescribed for. Take these and you will be in the best mood ever.

Sorry SLi, prescription pills are Bullspit, take a shot of Jose, lick the salt off her belly, and tell the rest of the world to F??k off!

lucenda basset -"attacking anxiety and depression" ( everything you need , yes ,I mean - everything ) bye

xanax works great for my anxiety..actually it's the only thing that works....maybe your dosage was too high..try a smaller dosage..but you still have to get down to the bottom of what's causing your anxiety...counseling usually works
