I have decided to start Cognitive Therapy for my Depression.?!

Question: I feel like I have been depressed for most of my life. What can I expect from this type of therapy and for those who have tried it, did you find it useful and how long did it take before you started to feel different?? I have heard some people say it might take years?? Is that true...if it takes that long is it really working?

It you do what your therapist says to do and really make an effort, you should feel results within a month. You won't be super happy right away but you will notice that you learn to cope with your feelings and change them.

It is a long term therapy because ultimately it aims to alter your behaviour/thought patterns, which have been an inate part of you for so long.

However, if it works it well worth it. It is hard work and you must be prepared to put in some effort.

Good luck..
