I have been taking lexapro but it effects my singing in a bad way...?!

Question: It kind of feels like it makes my vocal chords tense and it is much harder for me to focus fully on musical things like performing. I feel artistically suppressed when on it but there are other benefits of taking lexapro like I'm a lot more driven to accomplish every day tasks that I struggle accomplishing without the drug. I have more confidence in every day tasks while on it but less confidence and less ability in being around the public and performing being on it. Singing means a lot to me but everyday life is important too and happiness is very important and it helps me with that.

My daughter said the same thing, she now rakes Prozac, see if you can switch meds. Good luck

Talk to your psychiatrist about this. Maybe they can prescribe a different medication that won't have that side affect.

Ask your doctor about it. Maybe he/she can prescribe something like a beta blocker to help you feel more confident(?)
