What should I do about this medicine?!

Question: A doctor gave me wellbutrin for anxiety and depression.
I was told to take two 150sr a day. I got so many side effects that I can't name them all here. But, the two worst ones that I really hated was increased anxiety and paranoia.....much much worse than normal.
I went back to the doctor. He gave me xanax and told me to drop down to one a day for about a week and then move up to the two a day.
My question is, should I REALLY do that as I want to feel better and NOT worse? I can't help but, question if this is the proper way to go.....anyone out there been through it and would know if it will work. Or does any professional out there agree or disagree with my doctors advice? Thanks everyone!!!

Been there, got the shirt. Do as your doctor says. The anxiety is temporary and does go away. Do not take the Wellbutrin too close to bedtime, because it can cause you to have problems sleeping. When I was on the starting doses (once you get to your dose they will prescribe the Wellbutrin XL that you take once a day in the morning) I took the evening pill about 4 or 5 pm, and had much less side effects. Good luck. It does get better. It takes about 4 to 6 weeks, but it does get better.

My doctor prescribed my anti-depressants yesterday, i read the side effect list and decided against taking them. If you are not happy with the treatment, you can ask for an alternative, that being no medicinal treatment but talking therapies instead. Go back to you Doctor and explain how unhappy you are on this medication.

I was prescribed Wellbutrin last week. I'm on the 150 for a week then I move up to the 300. I have taken this before, I was on 450 a day and in my opinion it is totally worth it. The side effects get better and you get a much better attitude once the meds kick in, which is in about three weeks.

Do as your doctor says. Sometimes you have to try different ones out to see which works best for you. Everyone's right, it takes several weeks to really start taking effect. Good luck!!
