"TROLLS" - Does Y!A have any policy toward dealing with these pests?!

Question: It's a minor but apparently widespread irritation on this site, and Y!A seems not to have any control...or even any input...into the situation. Is a meaningless automated response the only reaction to a visitor's complaint?

What would motivate someone to become a "troll"? Why do they become so obsessed with their negative behavior that they're willing to waste so much of their time, and so much of their emotional energy, pursuing it? Is it a kind of addiction?

Any thoughtful responses are welcome.

(And no, I REALLY don't care if you "report" me.)

I agree.

I have trolls in my basement, and it's become a serious problem. The cat used to hunt them, but for every nuisance he caught, I had to spend an evening pulling 2-inch pink and blue hairs out of his but.

I'm glad to know someone else is in the same boat.

I don't get what a troll is

All right...yea..I pretty much have NO idea what you are talking about, but what does this have to do with mental health?

I wish Y! would do something about it. It has pretty much became out of control!

well because Y!A Staff doesn't really care

they consider them helpful members of the community!

whats a troll??

I always see questions about trolls on here. I don't know what they are. Is this some sort of American slang? I always imagine that thing under the bridge, you know, like in the story with the billy goats.

well technically someone could report you for putting this in the wrong section....but I won't report you. I don't really care if I am reported either. I would guess some of the people that have been reported are the ones doing the reporting because they are sick of getting reported for stupid things.

I think that they have too much time on their hands...

For who doesn't know:

Trolls are people who give thumbs down & report questions that aren't report-worthy. They just don't care what people are really saying, they just don't know anything better to do with their time.

You must really do a lot of bad things to worry so much about getting reported. I could'nt care any less since i don't post crude things. Have a bit of common courtesy and you won't have to worry about it all.

Trolls ~ it just takes a big billey goat ,, na,a,a ,a ,a
