My 27 year old son started taking Abilify for anxiety after several disappointing attempts with other prescriptions. He's a recovering alcoholic, so sleep meds (like Xanax) were a terrible idea. The Abilify doesn't mess with his sleep, keeps him from going anywhere close to a panic attack and he's really, really happy with the results. We all are. I wish he could have found this a year ago. Ironically, my daughter's sister-in-law was started on Abilify right before my son (she's in her 40's) and she's reported the same results.

On a different note, my friend lost a baby when my own daughter was 3 months old. This was 26 years ago. I know I what-if'd myself to death! I was scared, I discovered in a close personal way that tragedies happen and I was really terrified. I would wake my baby many, many times a day to make sure she was breathing. I think if I would have joined a new mother's group for support, I might not have worried so much. See if that's an option in your area, if you're willing. Sometimes all it takes is someone else who walks in your shoes to validate your fear and then hold your hand. So...if you'll try to practice the "we" thing, try the "faith" thing and then share your thought with someone else...you might get through. If you don't get the relief you need, keep asking your Doc for different meds until you get one that works for you. Best wishes, I hope you find your solution. You'll be in my thoughts.

I think the best thing to do would be to see a good psychiatrist. Maybe meditation would help too basically all you do is think of a word, clear your mind of EVERYTHING else, and say that word over and over again. If any other thoughts but that word start to come into your head immediately push them out again. This helps you get to sleep. Don't use sleeping pills, if you take them a lot it messes things up so that it's even harder to get to sleep if you don't take them.

Sounds like you have very low post-partum progesterone and possible pregnancy-related anemia. Blood tests can confirm this and both are easy to fix.

You should also eat something before bed and avoid sugars. Mixing anti-anxiety drugs with sleeping pills is very dangerous!!

Is the anxiety about something happening to your baby? Have you considered moving the crib into your bedroom? If this is not what the problem is I would try talking to a professional. There has to be more to it that you and I cannot see, that they may be able to easily uncover. Good luck to you!

Worrying is a bad habit, you need to overcome it like any other bad habit. Try to modify the factors under your control, that is the only thing you can do. From http://mshn.org/worry.html

Although I am not a medical person, I think that you should mention your anxiety to both your gyno and your child's pediatrician. This sounds like "post partum syndrome." Who gave you the celexa? I think all doctors need to get on the same page!

We new Moms all have lots of worries! If yours are extreme, please alert all doctors that you are seeing.

This is treatable. Just be sure that everyone is aware of the problem.
