are you the doctor, most likely your doctor will prescribe you that. you can not really choose.

i work for nami, national alliance on mental illness, as a fellow bipolar person. no matter what others take, it does not mean that it will work for you.

unfortunately, it is all a guessing game when it comes to medication, yea, it sucks. but this is how it is. every body is different, so even though lithium worked for me, does not mean that it will work for you.

ALSO, if you suffer from bipolar, you DO NOT really want to take antidepressants, for a long time, or at all.

stay away from prozac. I had a bad reaction from it. Lexapros goood for depressiion. As for bipolar lexaprro for the depressive stage and risperdal for the manic stage

I'm bi-polar and I take a mood stabilizer that makes the highs and lows alot milder. Then I take a anti-depressant for the lows and an anti-anxiety for the highs. That makes the highs alot calmer. Work with your doctor to find the right medicines for you. Email me if you have any questions.
