How on I earth do I quit drinking when I feel ill if I don't?!

Question: This thing is driving me crazy. I very much want to give up heavy drinking that I've been doing for 4 years. A bad liver test scared me into resolve. I've been told by a doctor to slowly reduce, but when I cut back I get nauseated and shaky.
It's a terrible feeling.
I treid a rehab ceneter, but it was a very scary place and I would only have come out with more problems.
Do you know anyone who has been able to do this?
I do see a doctor weekely, but I'm just getting very upset and frustrated :(
Thanks for answers

Your local natural health store is a wonderful resource. They normally have connections to naturopathic doctors to help you during the weaning process usually by detoxifying one or more organs. There are herbal supplements and homeopathics that may be of benefit to you.

A wonderful resource to you would be www.emofree.com and search about alocoholism.

You can also locate natural health practitioners and help on www.naturalcures.com

Hope this helps!

It's called withdrawl, my dad is a recovering alcoholic, you shouldn't try doing this by yourself, try going to a few AA meetings. It's only going to get worse if you don't seek help, it's hard but it's the only way.

WHat you need to get is a alcoholism pill. When you injest this pill and take alchohol, you feel ill and sick. That way, you will throw up when you drink alcohol and discourage you from drinking until you stop taking the pill.

Congratulations on being proactive in getting your addiction under control.
There is medication your doctor could prescribe that makes you ill when you consume alcohol. Perhaps that, combined with an anti-nausea medication would help you kick the habit for good.
Good luck and God bless!

You sound like you have alcohol dependency... so yes, take is gradually. You can't stop cold turkey, and must be strong. Seek professional help again, maybe not a rehab center this time, though not all rehabs are the same.

A tip to reduce your alcohol intake is to buy progressively weaker drinks, and to have smaller amounts. If you can control it, control how frequently you drink.

Go off the Wellbutrin, temporarily and with your doctors help, and quit drinking cold turkey. Go through the hell of withdrawal and then stay away from booze, for the rest of your life. It won't be easy, but you aren't the first. Seek help from a 12 step program, such as AA.
One day at a time. Good luck.
