Why am I always tired no matter how much sleep I get?!

Question: I used to always think I was just lazy, but now I realize that's probably not the case. Laziness is defined as the lack of desire to want to do something. I have the desire to be active, but I just can't and I don't know why. For instance, I can be on my way out the door to walk the dog, and I walk by a chair with no intention of sitting down, but I do and then I don't get up for hours. It's like two different minds trying to control my one body, and the one that wants to lay around all day and do nothing always wins.

I can't remember how long this has been going on, it's almost like I have a memory block in that area. I looked up possible causes, and vitamin and mineral deficencies were listed. I have recently become a vegetarian. If this is the cause, what nutrients am I missing out on? And if not, how can I overcome this chronic tiredness and apathy?

If you are vegetarian, you could have B12 deficiency. This causes nerve problems, fatigue, numbness, and slow healing.
You should get a visit to the doc to check for anemia and thyroid problems as well.
Try to get outdoors in the morning...natural sunlight from early morning sun will re-set your pineal gland and help your sleep wake cycle.

maybe you have lime disease?
or depressed?

It sounds like you need to find some new sources of protein.

We get energy from protein and the most common source of protein is meat. You might try the protein shakes/drinks.

I would sugget anyone who is making a drastic change in their diet, to see the family doctor and get advice.

perhaps you have chronic fatigue syndrome (cfs), or maybe you just need to work more protein into your diet :)

Will Power! Diet and exercise!!! It's all about the choices we make for ourselves. It's hard to change if you don't force yourself to do it! Make the conscious choice NOT to sit in the chair.

Depression? ADD? Anemic?
Consult your doctor for tests first, then if nothing is revealed, go consult a mental health professional.

That's all we can tell you here.

you may need to take 2 multi vitamins per day

You most likely need more protein in your diet. This gives you energy.

And remember that there's such a thing as too much sleep, which can make you feel tired as though you only got a couple of hours.

Add some more protein to your diet if necessary or go to a doctor. You may need anti-depressants, even if you aren't depressed, they help with this sort of thing.

Iron deficiency? A big steak might help. Is that appealing to you? Im not trying to talk you out of vegetarianism, but only to see if you have one if it helps. Then youd know to try supplements but they are not absorbed as well as in food. Have you had a blood count lately? That might be telling

I think you should tell your doctor. I have the same thing now their running test on me. You could have one of fifteen illness they told me. So there running test on me to narrow it down. It could be as easy as changing your diet or taking a pill every day to having to get surgery. So I think you should make an appointment with them. Good Luck

i think if u would have a good excercise or a
daily morning walk it would help u on your tiredness.

I believe everyone struggles with these opposing forces. It comes down to habits. If you keep letting the lazy side win, then it gets stronger and harder to resist.

If you let the motivated side of you win out, it will become easier over time to stay mobile. This will be very hard to do in the beginning, but will get easier as you go.

The good news is that its up to you! You have the control and the final say regarding your level of mobility! Good luck.

Maybe mental distress, lack of motivation, or depression. Since you probably feel like you want to be active, then you're thinking in the back of your mind that this is not me, I won't commit to that, so what's the point. You don't find joy in things or interest, probably. Also, you might want to change the way you think and look at things.

It may because you've just become a vegetarian. If not it may be depression. I've had the feeling of being tired a lot. And also, just not having the will to do something; desire but no will (if that makes sense). But if you are lacking vitamins it may be iron for sure. You may also need a carb boost: protein and sugar. I hope you feel better.

Get a tonic and improve your diet. Then find new stimulation in a hobby, a job or new friend. It works.

I was going to ask if you are over weight, but you say you are a vegetarian so that is unlikely. If you are that could contribute to the problem. You could have deficiencies in your diet because you are a vegetarian, likely protein. Another possibility is a sleep disorder. You may have a problem entering REM sleep which would cause symptoms similar to yours including memory problems. REM sleep is when your brain does much of its memory loading and absorption so without REM sleep you would probably wake feeling unrested and have difficulties focusing.

Involuntary distractibility/lack of initiative can be associated with: side-effect subtle brain injury/concussion, strokes, the ADHDs, ADHD Inattentive, CAPD, some type of the many epilepsies (petit mal/absence/complex partial, etc.), other.
