move out live in a tent for awile

you need help. you can't do it alone. ask your GP first.

force yourself, tell one of your friends to not let you do it. with time and patience, it can be broken. if it's so severe you think you can't handle it, seek medical help.

i fail to see why you belive you have ocd when you are acarrying out standard safety checks .

I do the same thing, but I only take about 15 to 20 minutes making sure the fausit is not leaking, the lights off, doors locked and my cat in bed, I make sure I have brushed my teeth and check the kids for any uncovered bodies from their blankets, my kids are teens now, but i still do it. lol. I don't really mind exept that when i get to bed I'm already tired. I really don't find that as a bad thing, its just a habit of being safe.

this actually is not OCD, and the above poster... wow. Anyways.

This is actually paranoia, i had this problem a few months ago. I wasn't exactly scared that someone would break in or something would happen, but i made sure every window was shut and locked, every door was shut and locked, that all the hiding spots in my house were checked, etc. I turned off all the lights, made my bed before i got in it, made sure all the t.vs were off. But yes it is indeed paranoia. I would suggest finding a local therapist or psychologist. Or try thinking to yourself when this all started and why. Also i would try just ignoring these, no matter how much they drive you crazy. good luck

The good thing is you have realised that it is an issue. The majority of people I have encountered with OCD don't and it becomes ingrained in their life. OCD is very common, so don't panic, you are not odd or wierd. You have identified that you need help, the first step is to contact your GP or Community Mental Health team who will be able to refer you for therapy to deal with this. They will be able to help you with the anxiety etc. that is attached to OCD. Good luck!

get yourself a repetitive job you'll soon get sick of doing the same old thing

i do/did the same thing but i don't think I'm as bad as you, but i found it helped to make a list of the things i checked and checked over and over. that way i marked things off the list as i checked the doors switches sockets etc, and i knew they had already been checked and tried to make myself not check them again as i knew they were checked already. after a couple of weeks i found i was less stressed about going over things i knew were already checked. I hope this helps

u can try to go over the compulsiveness of checking everything before u go to sleep by just going to sleep and if u can't just force ur self to do it or do something else like reading or drawing, if it's really stream where it is to the point that u can't even do it then it might mean u need some medication to help prevent those thoughts...

That's not really a bad thing to have happen. My mother-in-law does the same thing every night. She's lived in bad neighborhoods before, and learned to make sure of everything. Even though she lives in a safer place now, she still does it. As I always say, it's better to be safe than sorry.

See a psychiatrist. There are meds and treatments that can help you.

I had a problem where I had to tap things two times or I thought something bad would happen to me. It's not that your obsessed really it's probably caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain that is making you feel like you have to do that. Could be OCD too. You should talk to a theripist that's what I did and mine has gotten better.
