In an ideal world no pregnant woman should be on any medication as there is always some possibility of risk to the foetus.

Taking zopiclone first, this drug has no long term license anyway. Long term continuous use is not recommended. The latest information about this drug suggests it really has little therapeutic place. It results in the patient getting to sleep 12 minutes sooner than pre-medication and sleeping on average no more than 20 minutes longer than previously. The patients perception that it performs better than this is apparently because it has an amnesiac effect that makes them forget the tossing and turning, sleep studies demonstrate that in fact, this is not actually reduced! Unfortunately, once you have been on it for a few weeks you are, as you have discovered well and truly hooked and can't sleep without it. The trick of course, that good doctors use, is not to start the drug in the first place. That in your case is shutting the door after the horse has gone, so all you can do is try and wean off slowly.

The data sheet from mirtazapine specifically precludes its use during pregnancy and lactation, so I do not really understand why you were left on it. More worryingly in terms of your GP management, quoting directly from the data sheet

"........the use of Zispin during pregnancy is not recommended. Women of child-bearing potential should employ an adequate method of contraception if taking Zispin." This means that you should never have been allowed to fall pregnant whilst on this drug in the first place. I think you have to go back and have a long chat with your GP about your management.

ask your doctor!!!!
I had to get off of an anti-anxiety and it was really hard. But the withdraws were worth it. I've been off it for 2 months now and very happy and back to my normal self. I also worried tht my child would come out with a mental problem or diformity. You should stop now. Just cut your dose in half for about 3 days and then half of that for 3 days and on the 7th day stop...you will withdraw for about a week so I would recommend not working and staying home because you will cry a lot and also be very emotional and angry.

no medication in pregnancy EVER
