Some kind of nightmares?!

Question: I'm not sure what you call these, nightmares or what, but they're really frightening. The thing about them is that I'm not really asleep when they happen. For instance, I'll kind of be in that asleep-but-conscious mode, where I'm awake but not entirely so. I'll open my eyes and I'll see some image floating above me or crawling on the walls or what have you.

For example, I see giant spiders crawling on the floor or walls. Or I'll see a man standing beside the bed (one time he was wearing glasses and a scarf). Once I even thought it was my mom holding a pillow above me about to smother me.

A few times I've even jumped out of my bed and ran down the room before realizing what I saw wasn't real. Or shouted out in bed.

Every once in awhile I even hear screams and I wake up instantly.

What are these things? nightmares? I'm almost afraid to go to sleep now. Is there anyway to stop them?

Oh sweety, i guess you are really bothered by those ain't you. Yes, I guess there are nightmares, don't try thinking they are anything else. Are you under a lot of stress lately, many bad things happening?
I knew there would be people saying that you would get over it if you tell your dreams to others. But then you would have to describe, it makes you feel bad, it may not work, it could even have a worser effect, so i seriously don't suggest that. And don't ever think of writing down the dream, cuz i've done that, and i've posted it online. That the idiotiest thing i've ever done, cuz now i could remember the dream(i used to forget those nightmares) .
Everyone has nightmares throughout their lives, and some may have the same experience as you did- multiple nightmares occuring continuely over a period of time.
I suggest you go visiting a psychologist. There's nothing to be afraid of, it's really common nowadays.
That's a thing about mental health, sleep is really important for someone to be mentally healthy. But you're saying that you're afraid to go to sleep. Sleep is really important.
So i seriously suggest you going to visit a psychologist, theraupist, some kind of proper doctor. Don't worry honey, it may not be as serious as what other people implied and it COULD be stopped. However, if left undealt with, then it may get serious, you're the one who is going to suffer ultimately. You have nothing to lose now, so don't worry so much and visit a doctor as soon as possible.

You are deffinently mentally ill.
I don't mean that as an insult, I'm saying that you need help & I need help as well.

What you're going through is pretty alike to what i'm going through...

If you are doing any types of drugs or lots of alcohol, I'd say it's hallucinations.

If not, then it sounds like schizophrenia.

Either way, see a doctor or go to AA/NA.

Wow. If you're serious Im sorry. That would be awful..Only thing I can suggest is to see a doctor. Thats not normal. You do need to find professional help, this isnt something that you'll make go away on your own, or you would have already..Good Luck!

Well you could be seeing things or your house may have "unwelcome visitors"(ghosts).I say you should tell your parents and see what they can do.Maybe you should put a nightlight in your room so these occurings won't happen.

the thing that helpsme is that i think of good things in my life before i go to bed that way i will have dreams of them. try it

it sounds like you may have a mental illness, maybe schizophrenia?? make an appointment with a regular doctor (gp) and tell them whats going on, theyll refer you to who you need to see.
