A school counselor is hardly qualified to diagnose schizophrenia...anyways yes I have it. I am 31 and I live with my parents. I am on social security disability and I am incapable of being in a relationship with a woman. Not very encouraging I know, but you need to get your daughter to a medical doctor, not a school counselor. You can't be bipolar and schizophrenic. If you have symptoms of both it is a totally seperate disorder called schizoaffective disorder: bipolar type.
schizophrenia AND bipolar is impossible, basically. especially in a student, schizophrenia shows when youre like 18+. a school counselor isnt one that should be diagnosing her
It doesn't sound as if your daughter has schizophrenia; no counselor can diagnose it. It is not a single disease but a spectrum of disorders. The cause(s) of it are not known, There is no known cure for it but there is help and it makes it possible ti live somewhat normally. The chief reason you do not want a diagnosis of schizophrenia is due to the stigma attached to the diseases by the general public due to their abysmal misinformation about the disorders. Research the diseases well in Yahoo! web search.

my stepson has mental problems, his mom was schizoprenic so it can be hereditary, i had no clue what my husband went through with 1st wife(she passed) i couldnt believe half of what he told me. then we began to tell me about his 23 yr old son, before we got married, we lived out of my apartment, cuz he had a 2bdrm trailer that was falling apart, plus we were ordering a new doublewide, which gave me and kevin time to get to know each other. well my husband basically told me i had 2 act right.. (walk on eggshells like he does) anycase we all r under 1 roof, and isee what he means. the son is ocd, schizoprenic, with auditory delusions, etc. eats with his fingers (even gal. ice cream) and only eats tv dinners.so i made a point to go on WWW.WEBMD.COM i looked up all mental illnesses. it was helpful. it will give u a broader picture of things, also seek professional help. therapist
