Do those really work?!

Question: Yes, I know that this question has been asked about a bazillion times but it seems that I still can't find my answer. You should know that I am a teen and I've gone through many periods of very low self esteem. Though they only last a couple of days at a time and occur (on average) about twice a month, I still really hate that I feel this way. When I get out of these cycles I feel like, how could I have ever thought that about myself and then I feel horrible again.
So I wanted to find a way to solve this because I'm sick of it. I decided that I don't think I need a psychologist, but I need something to help. Do those 'Self-Help' tapes that say they'll up your self-esteem actually work? Or are they a waste of money. If they are, what other suggestions do you have? Please do not say something along the lines of "You need to love yourself and appreciate who you are". That does not help because it does not tell me what to do. What do I do. Please help me.

Thank you.

Well I don't think they help much. I think it's all just a bunch of crap, but you can try and see if you like them. And if that doesn't work, maybe you could try talking to someone if you like that option. A lot of the time I just want to talk, but there's really no one that I can talk to, so instead I write. Writing helps me a lot. So maybe you could try those or find your own method of getting help. Hope I helped a little!

No they do not!! They are a bunch of BS that companies use to make money!! I would not buy them!!

I get stressed sometimes, but I don't think that I hated or disliked myself before. I don't know why you feel bad about yourself. Well, you could think about the good things about yourself. Like you are beautiful or smart or something you are good at. oh,

Don't think of the past as much as the future.

If you did a mistake, then try forgetting it. You know that everyone makes mistakes.

(you could try to email me if you still have trouble)

Here's a suggestion that may give you a clue to what is going on with your body.....keep a daily journal of what you eat.....the people that could be taking energy away from you....exercise and anything else that you do. Do this for three or more months and see if you can find a pattern. St. John's Wort is a mood elevating herb and I can feel it working in hours. I would watch you intake of oils, butters, fats, fatty meats and sugars. MSG....mono sodium glutamate can also cause mood reactions in people....so can your hormones. I would suggest that you seek out a natural healer would knows herbs or homeopathy. Good Luck with finding your answers. Any self help books, tapes, etc. is not a waste of money.
