Can a change in medications cause a mixed episode?!

Question: I was recently diagnosed with Bipolar 2. I was diagnosed while in a mixed episode. The medications I was prescribed worked really well. My psychiatrist changed my Seroquel dose from regular to Xr and I'm having racing thoughts again, and even in the same day getting depressed. Do I need to just wait it out or should I have to doctor switch my meds back?

Definitely talk to your MD now. I went on Paxil for a very short time and went manic and delusional pretty rapidly. Had a meds switch and that all went away.

If you are concerned, I would absolutely suggest you speak with your doctor. Don't necessarily just ask to have your meds switched back. They take time to get into the bloodstream, and your body needs to time to adjust.

But also, you want to report what is going on and ask questions. Always ask questions - you will be better off in the end.

Good luck.
