How to make it stop?!

Question: For the past few years i have reoccuring dreams about being molested, which i imagine stems from such things happening to me when i was younger.
I have never talked to anyone about it. I can't even seem to talk to a psychiatrist about it. But at the same time, it's not like i buryied it. I've tried dealing with it. I've tried sitting down and rethinking what happened, telling myself it's not my fault. I don't think it's that I'm angry at the person, I've done everything i can to forgive them.
And I'm just wondering, is there anyway for me to get over this so it stops plaguing my dreams and randomly popping into my head during the day?

you really should find a shrink that ur comfortable with and discuss it. get the feelings out and talk about the issues of how you feel about the person that did this, and how you may have forgiven them. if it was a close family member whom you love, i'm sure its difficult to discuss that with anyone. if you want to try and email and discussit please feel free to email me. i have gotten some good success through emailing and dealing with issues that way. you can do it in a way that you remain totally anonymous. but the dreams are telling you to get these feelings out and to work to get past it. i wish you well.

Its called PTSD you need to find someone who specializes it dealing with PTSD.

okkk first of all im am so sorry about what you are going threw because i was raped last year and have flash backs through out everyday. I think you schould sit down with someone you trust and talk to them... and also i dont know if this would helo you but talk to the poerson that hurt you and find out why?? i did and he said he got caught uo in his head... lol friek

The best thing to do is to find someone you like and develop an active, non-abusive sex life. Happy encounters will help to make the dereams go away.

I think you should try to find a counselor to talk about it with, since it seems you haven't gotten over it. You will probably never totally get over it, since it is a terrible thing that happened, but you will learn better ways to deal with it in counseling, and maybe it will stop distressing you so much. Sometimes talking about your feelings and becoming aware of them, dealing with them when you are awake might help you so you don't dream about it (your brain trying to deal with it when you are asleep). I don't know; I'm not a pyschologist, but I think that's kind of how it works.

What I DO know is that counseling sessions are private and they are also supposed to be supportive and respectful environments. The counselor is there to make you more self-aware, and to help you learn tools to make your life easier, like dealing with stress and your problems. There are also different types of counselors available. Psychiatrists (which are medical doctors, and can prescribe prescription meds if you need them, such as anti-depressants or anti-anxiety meds), pscyhologists, social workers, or religious personnel can all counsel people, depending on what you want. Each has its own benefits/differences. You should look for someone that will make you feel comfortable, and maybe think about the type of therapy you want to receive, and whether you want a male or female (or if it doesn't matter), and whether your insurance will pay for it. Some places will allow a sliding scale fee (based on how much you earn) if you can't afford it, or don't have insurance coverage. If you are a student, you can probably see a school counselor for free.

I think it would help you, even if you are scared. If you don't want private counseling, there is also group therapy as another option. But I think you should try something, so you don't have to go through this alone.
