It's because Americans (not just Jews, non-Jews do it too) slavishly follow their "tradition" simply because it's how they've always done it, without stopping to reason whether it's necessary, desirable or kind to chop lumps off a baby boy's penis. This is one of those indefensible practices that, unless it's done for a good medical reason, is barbaric and should be banned in law, just like docking dogs' tails or cropping their ears.

Well, you are the living proof that what you say is untrue! The reason that circumcision continues is that it provides better hygiene, health, comfort, appearance, self-esteem and FAR FAR better sexual sensation and pleasure during intercourse for both the man and his female partner(s). Most mature sexually experienced women, who have tried both an uncut and circumcised men, overwhelmingly prefer circumcised men as lovers - just ask a few!. There are NO disadvantages to being circumcised and it should be routine for all males.
