I wouldn't call not caring desensitized; it would be better described as apathetic.

Desensitized is when you don't care in a situation in which you should be affected greatly. For example, if in a movie you see someone seriously hurt or killed in a gruesome way but it doesn't bother you in the least, that would be desensitized.

If you saw a close friend or relative die unexpectedly and felt no emotion whatsoever, it might suggest desensitized (though it could simply be shock).

Depression on the other hand does mean there is an emotion present. It may be due to a chemical inbalance, or it may be due to stressful situations. It can lead to a desensitization, as the mind may desensitize itself to deal with depression. Basically that means the mind ignores the depression because it is too much to handle.

But depression is an emotion, whereas desensitization is the lack of emotion.

I know what depressed is and I don't know what desensitized means

you're apathetic it sounds like, being depressed you can care you just are (sad all the time).

Yes...

Dont be so sad and dont give up on life....we all feel like this at times but u can overcome this OK

No, desensitized means you've been exposed to the world too much and have allowed yourself to stop caring and you can end up emotionless. Depression is much more complicated - it's over-emotion in some ways, but some people will desensitize themselves in order to not have the depression. Depression is also caused by a chemical imbalance at times while desensitization is a choice.
