My wife and I run a drama club for kids with difficulties like your brother's. It's actually spelt cerebral palsy. People have no idea about how to treat kids with special needs. "If they're not "normal" they must be stupid" is the attitude. It's also partly kinda fear. I used to be slightly afraid of people with mental problems, but not any more. Hope this helps.

Those people are mad and insensitive. You should love and stand up for your brother so much that he can easily forget the pain that others try to give him. Many people who have not seen any loved one going through any form of mental illness is always insensitive to such people which is EXTREMELY sad and immature(because sometimes they make fun of such people). I'm sure he is a wonderful young man and I will pray for his problems to get resolved to whatever extent possible

People often attribute lack of intelligence to lack of physical ability, especially if there is an inability to speak or the speech has articulation problems. As people with your brother's problems mature, my experience is that they may learn to use these misperceptions to their advantage. It is very easy for them to suck people into a false sense of superiority, only to pull the rug of expectations out from under them, if they have that ability.

coz he is different.
dont get me wrong. i have a cousin with he same concerns.
and he's the reason why im working on a group home right now. he just inspires me.

and you're right, he understands everything but there are things that they couldn't do.
btw..
is he a premature baby?
coz it is usually the cause.
and if you dont mind me asking..
does any members in your clan has/experienced the same thing?
coz most cases, it runs thru the blood.

my only advice is...
show him much Love and Care.
because of theres a person that wants that kind of affection, its them.
of course, this is only my own opinion.
and try to put hi to "school" you know what im talking about.
in that way,,he wont feel different coz he'll befriended by kids like him too.
and he'll be taken care of people who specialized in these conditions.
..
please dont treat him different
and
dont make him feel he's different.

Some people are just insensitive and mean to those who are different. My nephew has autism and people treat him different too. It's wrong but unfortunately there will always be people who treat others differently.

my son is autistic and i mostly find people just egnor him. sometimes it bothers me, but other times its fine with me. if people ask him to many question or try to get him to do something ... that stuff gets him very upset. as far as what people say ... you really have to let it go. i find if i say right away that he is autistic ... they just sorta look at him ... then move on! this way you don't get yourself upset. getting upset does no good anyway, its not gonna change things.
