I stay awake all night but it seems to go by so fast...??!

Question: Hello! Well, this is my second night without sleep, which is okay with me, I'm in therapy and working things out - I don't need sleeping meds - my question is... I go to bed around 10/1030 just kinda lay there... then maybe write in my journal or listen to relaxing music and I'm wide awake and I'll look at the clock and hours and hours will have passed in what seems like 5 mintues... what's going on? It literally feels like all my nights are 20 mintues long is all

Hello ! Its really hard to say because of lack of info, like, do you or did you work at nights ,whats your routine during the day, why don't you need sleeping meds, and why are you in therapy? So the answer I will give you will be very generalized. At my age, I've had this happen several times, and I love to write. Writing can take a lot more time then you think, especially if its heart felt writing, the hours can tick away pretty fast, and with the relaxing music, you can stop for awhile to listen to a nice song, then actually fall asleep without even realizing it,wake up and continue like you were never asleep and back o writing or listening to the music. I know for a fact that this does happen, and you would never even know that you fell asleep, Unless you are manic and need meds to help you get back to a"normal" routine, this can happen.I am glad you are in therapy, for whatever reason, regardless,it sure can't hurt you,but make sure you tell them about this problems,in case its medical related and might need the help of you Dr. I hope this helps.

This is because you are too busy .but it will ruin your health very soon

its because your mind is filled with thoughts. You are too busy thinking. I read somewhere that listening to the pich in your ears helps you sleep better. It has worked for me in the past. I just like to stay up lol its my only quiet time.

yeah nights always go by so much faster than day-light idk why though! I HATE it
night is my favorite!! i remember reading the seventh harry potter book...i started it at 10 at night and the next time i looked around my room the sun was up

It could be becuase of your nvolvement in something you are really doing your interested in like you said writing journal or listening musics. It happens but it is not good for your health. Your body need a good sleep. You get maxium rest while sleeping!

You mentioned that you are in therapy. And if this is only your second night of not sleeping well, then don't worry about it. But in your next session mention it to your therapist. Your therapist can help you with that. And the best time to write in your journal is not when you go to bed because without you realizing it that can keep you awake. You have probably a thousand things going through your mind right now that needs to be worked on and maybe this is just too much for you to handle right now. There could be many reasons why it's hard for you to fall asleep. But don't brush it off like it was not important because eventually if you keep losing sleep it will affect your whole body. And you won
