Agreeableness, Extroversion and Social Grace?!

Question: To start let me tell you, I'm not your typical agreeable, extroverted or friendly type. I'm generally introverted and withdrawn, and suffer from episodes of anxiety due to contravailing forces in the social environment.

While, on an intellectual level, I want to be more sociable, agreeable, extroverted, friendly, etc. and while I can understand what it is, it remains an abstract concept. Something I have found incredibly difficult to change in my life.

While some might say personality can't change, I think it can, with the right environment, and the right strategies, we can supress damaging behaviors and direct ourselves towards more positive attitudes.

If someone can honestly give me an answer you'll be saving me many years of anguish! Cheers.

After fifty years.. this is what I've decided....

It is my belief that down deep, people want to be happy.

Therefore, I believe that we often will overcome our own difficulties to become so.

Most of all, I believe that our biggest hindrance is usually ourselves and our own doubt or self perceptions. We are our biggest enemies because we tell ourselves that we can't do this or we are this sort of person.
It's like how women will say they are overweight when everyone else believes them to be just fine. We formulate these ideas about ourselves when in fact, we can be whoever we want to. Who or what is truly stopping us? Usually it is our own fears and ideas about ourselves.

If you read many autobiographies, you find this to be true. Everyone has their demons, everyone... and many many are able to get beyond them.

Just my opinion.. worth what it cost you, :)
