I Suffer From Severe Insomnia And I No Longer Have Any Answers!!!!!!!!!?!

Question: Long story short I do see a psychiatrist, and since I have 4 children, they will not give me regular sleeping pills. I get 1 mg of klonopin to help me go to sleep. I have to take at least 2 klonopin, and about 4 to 10 benadryl to go to sleep at night. Yes, sometimes that does not work at all. I always run out of my perscription early, because I try once and if I fail I try again. I was up for 5 or 6 days straight at one point, and the ER perscribed .25 adavan and ambien. I took 4 adavan, and 3 ambien and was still awake!!!!!! I am afraid to overdose, and I can not function without sleep. When people ask, they assume that I sleep during this time here and there but I do not sleep at all. I have a brother who is exactly the same way. We come from dif bio moms, but mine used to leave me at night alone a lot and then she abandoned me all together, so I assumed it was some how linked, but my brother is not her's? When it starts it is from 3 to 7 days, of abosolutely no sleep.

Ask your Doctor for a referral to a sleep disorder specialist and make an appointment. There are plenty of medications on the market today that can give you some relief. Insomnia can run in families, so the fact that you and your half brother have a similar disorder are not surprising. Klonopin and Benedryl are not "sleeping pills", though they can and do help many people who have mild sleep difficulties. Get an appointment with a specialist and go! Everyone in your family will benefit from it! kjl

I wish you the best of luck and hopefully will have colorful, pleasant dreams one day. But sadly, a nuerological condition is worse than any other you can have because the doctors can never be sure.

I suffer pretty badly but at the moment it's under control.

More nights than I care to ever know I spent wide awake staring at the ceiling.

Can you try some natural products like Melatonin and Valerian. I was taking both of those and an over the counter sleeping pill and would at least get a couple hours sleep.

Have you tried xanax? That is anti-anxiety and might help if you are awake worrying about things.

Seems to me like bipolar disorder.
Episodes of manic energy and chronic sleep disorders are just a couple of symptoms.
Read up on Bipolar disorder, and if you "fit the bill" so to speak, discuss it with your doctor.
