What are therapies for autism spectrum disorders?!

Question: In mild cases.

Answers: In mild cases.

My son has speech therapy and occupational therapy. Individual cases vary for what kind of sensory input is helpful. My son like s to swing(they utilize swinging at his school and it helps the children to pay attention and think more clearly.) He likes to be massaged .Some children don't like to be touched when they have autism. My son has a normal IQ but has speech and attention problems because of the distractions associated with sensory integration disorder-Mild autism

Don't let the whackjob mommies-and-daddies-of-autistic-kids, who fancy themselves "researchers" just because they can use Google, blast you with quack therapies.

Garbage: diets, chelation, hug therapy, etc.
Untested: Floortime
Distasteful, but somewhat effective for severe cases: ABA
Reasonably Effective: social skills therapy, modified CBT; for children include - speech & play therapy.

I'm sure I missed some of the quackery, there's so much.
When in doubt, always, ALWAYS ask a doctor.

I totally agree with Cheryl I am also on the autism spectrum I have Aspergers and yes ask a doctor, but have heard some doctors tell people they do not diagnose adults false of course. If your doctor will not listen can go direct to a clinical psychologist.
What to ask one questions can ask mine on my web site for free http://asplanet.info/forum/index.php?boa...
But please as already said no fad treatments, the only thing needed is understanding and for some of us support, often its our associated conditions we have more problems with. We may think and see a little differently form others, but not so different really and anyway we are all born as unique individuals.
