no just a habit

no! shopping is a hobby!!!

It can absolutely be an addiction. Overspending can become a serious compulsion. When it ruins your credit, impacts your job, and relationships it can be a serious as any other addiction.

A shopping addiction is the same as any other addiction. The reason they do it is triggers endorphins and dopamine to increase giving them a high. Shopping addicts will hide purchases just as an alcoholic will hide the bottle.

Yeah I'm addicted to shopping, I shop like all the time, speaking of that, I'm was just about to go to the mall now..... thanks 4 remindding me!!!!!

Shopping can be an addiction. I guess it's possible to get addicted to anything! I know someone who is addicted to shopping, but doesn't know it. She finds her self esteem in shopping. By spending money, she is making not only herself happy, but the merchants who, of course, treat her like a preferred customer. Shopping makes her feel like she is someone with power, which she is as long as her credit card holds out.

yes it is an addiction and in rehab they check to see if it is one of your addictions on the questionnaire - people can get a quick 'fix' or high from it the same way as any other drug and use equally secretive behaviour when it comes to hiding purchases, reciepts etc from family or spouses.

it is not the shopping hun

it is shopping with money you do not make/have
(credit card debts)

if people would go shopping with money they actually HAVE after all their other expenses/costs, there would be a WHOLE lot less shopping out there.
