What is on your conscious thats troubling you? Thats the question you should ask yourself....

AND DONT LISTEN TO THAT elana1987 SAYING THAT YOU SHOULD GO SEE A DOCTOR TO GET PRESCRIBED MEDS!

meds are a quick fix, and wont be very affective if what ever is bothering is continuously on your mind. Meds are the easy way out!
dont go that route, just learn to face your own issues the HEALTHY way: balance, excercise, rest, and the most important COMMUNICATION.

talk to someone about how you are feeling.

you wil be able to sleep better in no time :)))

thanks, i have had problems with depression, so i know what it is like.
if u ever need help just email me. Report It

  • There might just be a lot of stuff on your mind... and you should see your doctor for some prescribed pills. Also, if you think you're depressed, start going to counseling of some sort. It'll help, I promise! Good luck :-)

Having trouble sleeping is not unusual when you're depressed. There is often anxiety that goes along with it. You don't say if you're on any meds or, if you are, when you're taking them, so I'll assume you can try the natural route.
Exercise - go for a 30-40-minute walk each day. Don't eat too soon before bed. Avoid alcohol, especially before bed.
Natural Factors has a product called "Tranquil Sleep" that contains L-Theanine, 5-HTP and melatonin that I take about 30 minutes before going to bed and it seems to help.

your depressed. being depressed fuc.ks up your sleep cycle. i'm not sure what you could do to fall asleep. when i find out i'll tell you. i'm bipolar and i run on no sleep. i am now programed to run like that. but when i was just depressed nothing not even drugs would put me to sleep and keep me asleep

talk to your doctor or friends or family about this and try to figure out what is bothering you that is making you so that you can't sleep

do not start taking pills right away... 1st of all if ur depressed c a counselor... also get involved in alot of things so that u don't have time to sit around and think about everything that depresses u. i was depressed when i dropped out of school and it got even worse after. getting my diploma and going to college helped alot (also the fact that i'm getting older helps)
i occasionally get depressed when i have nothing to do and start thinking about all the crap that's gone wrong in my life.

As to what is causing your depression, that's impossible to say without knowing you and what's going on in your life. If you're going to get medication for it, you MUST get counselling too, as one rarely works without the other. As for the sleeping thing, I used to have both of these problems, so here a few things that are known to work. Instead of taking possible habit-forming sleeping pills, try taking a "melatonin" supplement, it's the natural chemical that your brain releases when it's time to sleep. Try journaling your thoughts before bed, so they aren't swirling around and keeping you awake. Try some relaxing music put on low while you sleep, ex. water sounds(ocean), forest sounds, classical music, etc. If you can stomach it, warm milk releases "tryptophan"(sp?), another sleep-inducing natural chemical. Just getting more excersise, even just a nice relaxing walk before bed, can really help. Not only does it release endorphins (a natural HAPPY chemical), but it will help you sleep better too. Sometimes just simple "deep-breathing techniques" work. It takes willpower, but the basics are that you focus really hard on your breathing as you take deep breaths, and let all your thoughts go. Maybe you could do some research on meditation, it's a natural alternative to drugs that's been known to help with many mental conditions. I hope this helps, and I hope you get to the bottom of your depression. Good luck!
