Do I Have Psychological Problem?!

Question: My parents always jokingly say that I should see a therapist but I think that I might actually have a disorder. Here is why:
1. The stupidest things bother me. Which sounds minor but today it was barely raining..not even enough for me to turn on my windshield wiper, but there were drivers w/ their wipers going all out like a freakin' hurricane was rolling through. This annoyed to a point where I thought about it all the way home. The littlest sounds & things annoy me. Breathing too loud, chewing w/ your mouth open, people sniffing there nose, biting finger nails, all of these things and a bunch of little things that can annoy me so much that I can't concentrate on anything else accept that noise.
I also put things into patterns or break them down...like numbers..when most people see 326 they see three hundred twenty six..the first thing i see is 3*2=6 there are other things but i don't have enough space...remember these aren't just minor things...I do them everyday

Without getting into an in depth analysis, my first inclination is that you are experiencing, as others have said, OCD. However, I don't believe it is not without a specific correlation. In many cases like yours, I have found that subjects are very often "gifted". These subjects are very intelligent, however they often have difficulty in day to day life (with such occurrences as you describe). Depending on your age, ways to find out if you can be coded as "gifted" can be as easy as looking to a school counselor or program director (e.g. REACH) for assistance. Peer consultations can also be very important for sufficient intellectual stimuli as well as the social comfort of others who can relate. I suggest that it is something worth looking in to. Cheers.

It can;t hurt to go to a paychologyst, the worst that will happen is you have someone to vent to!!

umm no i think ur fine just very observant and just think or thinkgs differently and stuff im kinda like that too i find it funny lol i dunno not makking much sense here but w/e that kind of thing happens to me sometimes too lol

It sounds like seeing a therapist may not be a bad idea. Sounds like you may have something like minor OCD. Although I have to say that most people annoy the heck out of me too! :0)

nah you're fiiine. I do that sometimes too, but it may be a minor form of OCD. probably not though. doesn't hurt to get it checked out though, right? best of luck! ?

you probably have a slight ocd problem or dsylexia type of problem, but probably not, you just understand things diffrently(numbers, etc.) and are very observant(the noise thing is just like me!)unless maybe i too have a psychological disorder lol but i dont think so..

the number thing u do sounds like OCD. obsessive compulsive disorder. Its not a bad thing, we all have our quirks, but if its getting in the way of your normal life and its troublesome, see a doctor, there are meds for it, and a therapy called cognitive therapy works wonders for OCD. good luck

nah ur prolly just easy annoyed or bored easy

i kinda have this too...i don't see anything thats overly wrong with me, but a doctor visit might not hurt! it's just the way our brains work, i think.

Try taking these supplements:
Magnesium will help with your noise sensitivity and
5HTP will help to balance your mild OCD tendencies.

It sounds like you might have, like other people suggested, a minor case of OCD.

Therapists are there to help and having a couple sessions what hurt.

IF it is affecting your everyday life than do it.

However if doesn't negatively affect your life then I suggest other methods.

Try thinking about something else when things bother you.
Try some meditation, picture yourself in a calm area and try to relax.

If meditation and other relaxation tips don't help and it is affecting you negatively then see one for a coupld sessions.

Tiny things bother me too, I get really angry about things like breathing really loudly or people picking their nails etc. I dont think were in need of a psychologist, I just think were sensitive and possibly a bit aggrivatable. Some people are very laid back some people are very on edge ,why is it that the laid back ones never consider it a problem I wonder? xx

It's possible. Those are traits that appear in some disorders. Humans have a range of perceptions, and only if they are troublesome enough do they actually become disorders. The question is whether these characteristics are interfering with your ability to function to the extent that you need treatment. It's possible that you could counteract the noise sensitivity by using stress management techniques, and also be altering your environment. For instance, you could use use ear plugs or high quality headphones to block noise in some situations.

If it is something that really bothers you, and seems to be getting in your way, then talk to your family doctor.
