How do I make sure my attention deficit testing comes out positive?!

Question: I get tested all day saturday, and I want to know what to act like so that I get medicine to help me. I don't want to drink coffee and act too quick because i'm not. He says he'll test for 12 hours, and it will be a compound of 7 minute tests. How do I act to make sure I get diagnosed? Do I try my hardest on the IQ tests, or will my smartness make them think i'm not A.D.D?

ok, been there, done that. I tried "not" to get diagnosed and i did. They dont base their testing off of ur smartness really, they are very experienced, if u are add, they will test u positive. I had this done when i was in 6th grade and some of my tests came out telling me that i could be in senior highschool subjects. its just the way we think, its different, there are tests with puzzles and all that kind of stuff..we dont react as quickly as most people would with that kind of stuff. theyll know and if ur rly having trouble theyll prescribe some kind of medicine whether ur add or not. Not to worry, same thing happened to me, and i am definately add no matter how hard i tried to act "normal" i couldnt do it. lol. if u have any questions feel free to email me at any time'

Um... really have ADD?

You're a complete and utter moron. Seriously. You're either a speed junkie or a complete waste of space. BTW, no psychologist does 12 hours of testing for ADHD!!! Usually, they use a number of teacher/parent report measures.

Why are you trying? ADD meds are not good for you, it's not a good condition to fake.

If you are worried that you have to pretend to have ADD, then you probably don't, and they will not say you will.

Do you think doctors are idiots???

You will more likely be diagnosed with borderline personality disorder/ or schizophrenia or something like that, which sounds more like what you DO have.

Good luck. I was goin to say something along the lines of what ALF did below, but I couldn't think of exactly the way to say it. He pretty much did.

take Viagra..yeah i know you a gurl..but it increase the blood goin' to your brain

or smash your head slightly in the front with a rock..xD

Wait - do you have ADD or not? I'm confused. Many medicines used to treat ADD can have adverse effects on those who don't need it.

Intelligence has nothing to do with ADD - plenty of people who have it are extremely bright but have trouble paying attention or following directions in some cases. People with ADHD tend to fidget a lot or get side tracked. I don't suggest you try to rig your test though.

Just act like your acting right now by asking this sort of irrevelent question and im sure you'll pass

You shouldn't worry about how well you score on those tests; the point of testing is to prescribe the correct medication for your ADD.

Smartness? It's NEVER smart to try and influence the outcome of a test, especailly if all you want is to get drugs. DON'T try and influence it, if they catch you doing that you can get in some serious legal trouble. It sounds to me like you may have a slight drug problem, instead of helping it along, I'll give you some advice. Seek help. And if that's not the case then I just misread, but still, never try to fix a test, it can do no one any good.

Why the hell would you want people to think you're ADD? So you can get the pills? Wow, you're a winner. I would say don't worry about trying your hardest on the IQ test, I doubt your "smartness" will influence anything.

I have ADHD. Why anyone would want to fake having it makes no sense. You seem to have some problem though, I think you will get what ever med you need(0_o)

Drinking coffee or taking any stimulant will help you concentrate and behave less like someone with ADD if you do have ADD. If you don't have ADD and they prescribe medication the medication won't help so there is really no point in trying to rig the test. However if you do have ADD you don't have to do anything to guarantee the outcome. Just do what they tell you and give it your best shot. I also find the idea of twelve hours of testing a little hard to imagine. My whole appointment including the tests took about an hour and a half. They give you little tasks to focus on, like computer games. You're supposed to push a button or something whenever a certain thing happens. What they measure are not times you get up and fly around the room but how often in a period of a few minutes you lose focus and don't push the button at the right time. I supose there are other tests but that's the one I remember. I thought I did really well and I was surprised at how many times my attention lapsed. Don't bother trying to fake it. They'll know. But you won't have to fake it if you have ADD. The test picks up subtle signs that are not obvious as are misbehaving in class or being bored and troublesome.
