OCD problem?!


Question: a close friend of mine has OCD and has a problem with the germ part of ocd..and with the germ part of it he is deathly afraid of getting a std so he is afraid of being around women..he loves me a lot and we have been intimate a long time ago but now his anxiety level is so high that he cant even be around me in a social setting...i have offered to help him by doing baby steps and he wants to do it but he just cant..he says he will but always TWO days before he lies and says something serious has happened and he cant make it...then like a month will go by and he will apologize and tell me that he will never live a normal life and wont be able to ever see me as much as he loves me and i cant take it personally...i guess a long time ago b4 i knew him a girl gave him a std (i dont know which one but it obviously had a traumatic impact on him)

can anyone who is ocd or anyone who is close with someone ocd please explain to me what i am supposed to do in this situation? hes not lying. ty

He should try to work out his issues in therapy and see a psychiatrist as well. It sounds like he could benefit from medication.
