How long do you keep the weight gained from taking anti depressants once you sto!

Question: personally when i was on antidepressants i gained alomost 75 pounds.
since stopping them 3 years ago, i haven't lost any, and i am resilient to go back on them to gain more weight.
alot of antidepressants change your metabolism, usually slowing it down, after you stop, its hard to get it going again.

anti depressants make you gain weight???!?!?!?!?!

Not everyone gains weight from them. I didn't.

If the weight was gained because the medication made you more hungry, then you'd have to lose that weight first and then it would level off. I'd say that once it's out of your system for several weeks, you'll start eating normally again. Meaning, you wouldn't gain any more weight, but you might need to work off what you did gain. I'm not sure if there are anti-depressants that make you gain weight even if you eat the same things, or if they just make you crave and eat more food.

I didn't gain weight with them. My doc gave me Paxil CR, which she said will not increase your appetite, and may actually decrease it. I didn't notice a decrease, but there was definitely no increase.

Most medications that we take are based on compounds of mineral salts. Salts, as you know, cause you to retain water, which is one of several possible reasons for gaining weight.

If medicine salts are the only cause of your weight gain, then you should be able to lose the extra weight in about ten days after you quit taking all medications. If you drink extra water every day, that should also help to dilute the salts and dissolve some fat into urine.

If because of your condition you also have dietary issues that cause weight gain, your weight will remain a problem until you resolve them.

I have found a family of nutritional products that has helped me to maintain my weight and keep an upbeat attitude. Email me if you would like particulars.

No more grey days for me, or you either.

On luvox, I gained 150 lbs. My doctor then switched me to paxil. I'm still on paxil, but I've lost all the weight back. I did a radical change to my diet (over a period of time of course). I cook all my meals myself (breakfast and lunch the night before on weekdays), and have at least 50% veggies per meal.

I only wish I had incorporated an exercise routine as well. I would suggest gradual diet changes, exercises, and a bowel cleanse.

Depends on why exactly you gained the weight in the first place. If it was because they increased your appetite then it shouldn't take too long. If it was for another reason then it could take longer. Eat healthy and exercise it will help a lot.
