Are Social Workers Twisted?!

Question: There is a saying: There will never be a situation so hopeless that a social worker can't make worse.

I don't have kids but a good friend once aske me what's the difference between a SW and a Rottweiler ? Apparently you can sometimes get your kids back off a Rottweiler .

Yes I know its not funny. I'm asking you if its true?

Every social worker I ever met was a power hungry control freak that wanted nothing more than to be right and did so by seeing things that weren't there and making bogus reports in hopes of getting raise and moving up the political ladder in their office. They meddle. They insist you do things sometimes that are either impossible or not suitable to your family. I was actually forced to drop out of college because the social worker wanted me to complete a program for her paper work in my file. If I had not done it she was going to have me evicted from the transitional housing program I was in. This was years ago but I still struggle with how that was more important for my family, who personally we did not benefit from, than my college education. It through me back financially, which the social worker had repercussions and write-ups waiting beforehand, it was a long time before I could afford to register for classes again. I have never put myself back in a position like that again. I feel for those who do have to deal with them. All I can say to those who are stuck or trapped by the misdeeds of a controlling social worker is hurry up and get self sufficient enough to get out from under them them stay that way.

Not sure I agree with twisted, but certainly they don't think like us normal ones!

It is funny and probably true

Face it, to do their job you've either got to be dedicated or incapable of doing anything else - and the dedicated ones leave after a few days.

I've had dealings with Social Workers, professionally, they are a load of interfering busybodies, who seem to know nothing about anything! they get in the way of true professionals

It's normally the family's that are twisted

Good intentions get to the point that you'd rather jump off a bridge than continue to listen to them.

Psychology and social work are quasi-scientific at best and at worse they ruin lives.

Good advice is free if you pay attention, you may learn something.

Yes it is true. I have an autistic son and I am trying to get more help for him and support for my other 2 children as I am bringing them up on my own . Social workers are a complete waste of time. All I am getting is grief from them when all I am trying to do is do the best for my kids by getting them help and support.

I know that people will say its a sick joke but there is some truth in it.
Like most there are good and bad but it seems that it takes a different type of person to become one as they are brainwashed by the training and seem to follow everything that is written in the book. They seem to think they are the centre of the universe and never admit they are wrong.
So yes. What you say has an element of truth.

Oh yes. Quite definitely. About 35.6 % are twisted to the left (or clockwise as it is known in Social worker circles) whilst 42 % are twisted to the right (or anticlockwise as it is known in Social worker circles). The remainder are just warped slightly and tend to be hunchbacks (if left out in the sun).

Yes, most of them are. Also, the authority given to them (and to psychologists) by the public usually takes all hope away from their victims and patients.

That is kind of funny; but not really fair.

Also, the joke might have been made up by people who really shouldn't be raising children.

I worked with a lot of social workers over the years and most of them are very caring people.

But some people do get burned out after working in a certain field and start to get awfully negative.

Actually, it takes a court decision for children to be taken from the custody of their parents. A social worker can't make that decision without court involvement (at least not in the USA).

I wouldn't say twisted, but certianly pretty dam useless! They seem to know nothing about the children they are dealing with and know little about what is available to help them.

in my experience, they are a bunch of interfering bastards. They neglect to keep sufficient checks on vulnerable children, and yet are quick to act when there is no real need to

Most of the mental health social workers I was involved with were either: abusers, liars, useless and only doing it for the good pay and pension plan or a combination of all those things. Waste of space are social workers. Too much power and not enough competency!

Freeind and family of mine would defenatly agree with you, their experiances sum them up as useless busy bodies you dont give help where its needed but always seem to butt in when they are not needed or wanted.
