How do I stop being so hard on myself??!


Question: All I do is obsess over the stupid mistakes I make all day long at work, stupid things I say to people and constantly putting myself down in my head. How do I stop this?? I've tried replacing my negative thoughts with positive ones, read self help books, sought professional help and nothing is helping. I am getting worse.

I understand. Many people do this, Quite simply you are a perfectionist. You expect and demand a lot from yourself. You hate criticism from others and will go to all lengths to avoid this. Accept you are not perfect. Accept that you are as you are. Do not call them mistakes. They are things that happened. You cannot be sure the alternative would have been better. You are as you are. Actually you are a very kind caring person. You would do so much for others. But you will never be perfect. Then you are like a computer.

we all make mistakes and say stupid things at times stop putting yourself down a little more confidence in yourself would help and im sure your not as bad as you think

You sound to me to be suffering from social phobia/social anxiety.
It can feel like your own mind is torture to yourself.

i sugest you see another professional for help because the first one should have stayed with you all the way untill you were completely beter. you should also learn some relaxation. but try not to be so hard on yourself. good luck.

Do you put higher standards on yourself but let others get away with the same thing? You should know that some people have higher expectations on themselves but their friends and family can do the exact same thing and you let it be . Ask yourself if this was anyone else but you would it be okay for you? If so then take the next step by saying to yourself " I will let this one slip by since I let so and so slip by. It kinda helps. Before you know it you let yourself loosen up a bit. It is kinda like giving yourself a break. It worked for me but sometimes I had to say it out loud to myself in order to let it go.

you have to see the things that are good in your life. try to set long term goals but then set little ones along the way.i am the same way and that is how im geting my self better
