A really good way to quit this habbit is to just wear a rubber band or a hair tie around your wrist. And whenever you feel like you want to cut, just pull back on the rubber band/hair tie and let it snap your wrist. Just so it stings a little. This won't cause infection, where if you cut, you risk that. Good luck hun, please try what I suggested, and don't hurt yourself, it's not worth it, even though it may feel like it is..

I'm sure someone has told you this before, but you need to seek professional help. You can start with a psychologist.

Your doing it because you feel out of control. It's a control issue and you can control doing it or not doing it. Make the choice NOT to do it.

i am telling you to not cut yourself.because you are probably are doing it cuz you don't like yourself.but let me tell you something.if there are any kids at your school who are the "popular"kids who go out and stuff.they are the ones that will not have a life.the kids like you will have a good life.the popular kids or whatever will not realize it till age 40

Draw red lines on your skin,go for a walk, take a shower.

Have a cup of tea.

GO!!! emo...
emos are hot...

honestly i don't know why you are telling people about this on the internet and if you don't want to hurt yourself then why are you doing it?
if you want to stop cutting then stop
you're the one that controls what you do
and you chose your actions
sorry if i may sound harsh but it's the truth
i suggest listening to music or picking up an instrument
or just hanging out with friends

I myself used to cut myself so I know how it is like an addiction and difficult to quit....my best advice and what helped me to quit was I would call my friend and she would help me through it. also you might want to find ways to distract yourself until the urges pass...good examples are take a long walk and just enjoy everything that is around you, read a book, or go for a drive turn the radio up and scream....I also found that looking at my scars and realizing that they would be with me the rest of my life helped me to quit because I was ashamed of them...I wish you the best of luck and God bless you....

when people cut its usually because they are feeling something in side that they dont know how to express it or handle it ... insted of cutting write down everything that is inside of you ........ cutting is serious and its addicting if you can get out while your not in far........if you need to im me its cool its_all_about_me102@yahoo.com or beautifulsamie2@aol.com

I'm cutting the cheese right now.
Just thought a little humor might help you.I don't know anything about this problem except that you really should talk to a professional about this Disease.

Try running around the house or doing some exercizes...

Sometimes this can relieve stress and your brain will release endorphanes that make you Feel High....

Cover up.... Don't look at your skin and take all the tools and get them out of the house... burry them in the yard... get them out of your room....

Try doing something nice like start a dish for dinner... peel some potatoes and transfer the cutting need to the potato tell yourself that you can cut the potatoe or apple and get the same relief....

I don't cut---but, I do have an OCD with pulling out one hair at a time and looking at the root... It is very strange and it is so hard to control... I have better luck looking for something else to replace the need...

Also.... I know that the Cutting is a way to let pain out... look in the phonebook and see if you can find a Crisis Hotline... a live person who can help you get past this moment.... There is usually something very painful under the need to cut and this will get better if you can find some help to deal with the pain you feel.... the cutting is a release---but, if you can release it another way you might be able to stop the cutting....

Please email later I will be worried about you the rest of the day....

Go hug your teddy bear. It'll all get better.

If that doesn't work... try this. You should talk to your counselor because cutting is a serious hazard. Or you should talk with your parents. You should be happy with who you are and not try to danger your life. Hope this helps! MOST IMPORTANTLY- Just stop cutting.

And if THAT doesn't help, call up a friend, hang out, find a hobby. Anything that distracts you.

Remove all cutting tools.

exercise, masturbate, get drunk, watch a movie, chew your nails, take a shower, punch a wall, draw a picture, play a game, stab a pillow, play some music, skank, gargle water, play solitaire, cry, scream, jump, bake cookies, smoke something, eat something, write something, read something, dig a hole, climb a tree, rearrange something, destroy something, stop yourself from cutting.

put an ice pack on your arm for a short period
snap a rubber band on arm
play a video game

To stop something like cutting, you have to replace it with a better way to feel better and less stressed.

OK, this is a crash course in clearing your head. It works like a charm, do it at least once a day for a week or so, it'll really help.

Lay down in a quiet room, close your eyes, and take slow deep breaths. make each inhale and exhale last as long as you can. Just think about making each breath as long and slow as possible. Nice and deep, from down in your stomach, not up high in your ribs.

Then say to yourself "I feel my toes relaxing." and they will. Take 10 or so breaths. Then say "I feel my ankles relaxing" and they will. Go all the way to the top of your head until you feel as if your scalp is relaxed and loose. Let your whole body go limp.

Imagine that as you exhale that red smoke is blowing out your mouth as you exhale, taking away all the stress with it. As it goes out of you, you'll feel your body getting lighter.

Just lay there, calmly breathing, blowing out the stress, for about 20 minutes.

Don't let yourself think about anything but breathing nice and slow. If a thought pops up, say to yourself "Time for that later. In....... hold it.... and out...."

It takes a few times, but it'll get easier.
