unfortunately i had two of them in the several months and wouldn't wish it on any one- this is what happened to me.
Several months ago i woke up in the middle of the night- i was frozen in fear- it was dark with just a little light coming in my second floor window, no one else in my room- not even one of my dogs. I couldn't move or speak- my heart was racing and i was breathing heavy...then i saw it- a tall, large Shadow standing over my bed. a hand or arm was reaching toward my face- then i heard a cat hissing then the shadow vanished.
i don't own a cat.
then about a week later i was at my boyfriends' house - i woke up in the middle of the night again with the shadow guy standing over the bed. i tried to wake my boyfriend but i couldn't since i was frozen in fear. then i heard a cat growl, hiss and i saw it run onto the bed, stand on my and hissed at the shadow. my boyfriend said "that f'ing cat."- he said it in his sleep- he does not own a cat either.
i am not asleep when this happens, it happened in two different homes and i cant fall back to sleep after it happens.

if that is what gets you off

You can't pre-determine your dreams.

watch all the episodes of the movie "saw" right before bed

look up some scary crap on the computer...watch some creepy movies..idk sleep outside or in ur garage in the dark, and cold with nothing but a pillow, oh and wrap urself in chains so u cant get away even if ur scared..

why would u want a nightmare anyway?

Believe me, you wouldn't want night terror! I am not aware of whether it can be done, or if so, how. I induced nightmares in myself so scary that the only escape was to wake up. This can be done through autosuggestion, or hypnosis. See section 3, in my website, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris where I provide instructions, and weblinks to hypnospirals, and deepeners, if you are fairly suggestible. A professional hypnotherapist may well be more effective. Be warned, though, that once you start nightmares, it may not be so easy to stop, and you could quite easily end up regretting your decision!
