Do you think cannabis can destroy your ability to trust people?!

Question: i've had my fair share of doing drugs but weed seemed to always though not in the beginning) make me paranoid. i would think critically and analyze things. i thought it gave me a more clear perception on how life works. but it also made me distrust and doubt every thing. sometimes i knew it was silly and that it was only the usual paranoia when stoned but i think on the long term it has affected my ability to trust people even the closest to me. i misunderstand what people say and feel like there's always another meaning to what people say or do a "hidden" meaning.

i haven't done drugs for more than five years now and i still have trust issues.

what should i do???

Yes it can make some people very paranoid including me, and makes you over think everything even what your friends say, I used to think critically and over analyze everything including what people said to me, even their expressions on their faces, still do sometimes.

I stopped smoking a long time ago because it did exactly what you say it does to you. Once I smoked I couldn't go out or be around anyone at all because of the paranoia. It also made me lazy and depressed.

I still feel like that too sometimes, and I haven't smoked in years, but its getting better.

It doesn't affect some people like that at all, I am just one that is does, that's why I quit.

Weed & Hash can do alot more damage than people think.

Just give it time and maby it will get better.

"what should i do???"

Cry at the loss of ignorance, then move on.

What is canabis?

the last three lines in your paragraph before i havent done drugs...etc
are nuts i have a past of smoking dope and those three lines sumed up everything i felt day in and out. i say talk to your doctor...they should be able to get you a name and number or something to talk to someone not eveyone can deal with those emotions and dont understand whats going on and there are people out there educated to help people with things like that...hope this helped .. and good luck!

To each person the effect will be different. Don't try to over-analyze it, just be happy you have given the crap up and moved on. Congratulations!

therapy

Because of the paranoia associated with smoking cannabis regularly, trust is lost as you suspect people are being mean to you, or plotting against you.

I caution you at this stage as often such paranoia can lead to cannabis induced "psychosis" which is irreversible.

...have you ever considered that maybe you are bipolar?........ have a chemical imbalance.... that could be controlled with the right medication. It also sounds to me that perhaps you just need to talk to a pro and it's nothing more than a mental issue....and with the right tools you could overcome the issues of trust. ...I am also a recovering addict ...and for myself... damage done.

good luck.... =0)

One of the most common side-effects of cannabis is the development of paranoia; worrying about hidden meanings and your general trust issues would indicate that you have developed a mental disorder as a result of your cannabis use.

Once the damage is done (to certain chemical receptors in the brain) it is irreversible, however if you're sure you didn't feel this way before you used cannabis, there may be medications that can limit the symptoms you have noticed.

Distrusting those closest to you (when you have no real reason to and have used cannabis) is very common; so do as you have been doing: distrust your instincts here.

Seek psychiatric or medical help (maybe just your GP or doctor) so that you can get the medication you need to feel more like you remember.

Pot can be different for different people. I smoked for 15 years on a daily basis, if not an hourly basis. I don't think it actually made me paranoid, but it did increase my social anxiety.

In those 15 years I had two friends who reacted to pot with paranoia. It was pretty severe. They both also hallucinated quite easily from it. The one who tried to ignore the paranoia and kept smoking eventually moved on from his group of friends. I can't help but think that it had something to do with a lack of trust.

I suppose it's possible that it has created a lasting imbalance in you. You might want to consider therapy, whether it be with medication, or not. Personally, I hate medications. They do awful things to me... I was having spontaneous orgasms and hallucinations, so I stopped that crap, considering the doctor couldn't explain why. There could be other things that have led you to lose your ability to trust people and that really needs some deep analysis.

I use to think that pot robbed me of my motivation and enthusiasm for life, but now that I've gone 2 years without it, I'm realizing that it didn't. All it did was make me feel content with the way things were. Yeah, I know, those two things sound like the same thing, but if you really think about it, they are very different... One is more about being depressed and the other is more about trying to feel better. I'll tell you, the one thing I could never handle is alcohol.

um what was the questin cause this stuff is no it wont hurt your whats was the question
