How do I feel better about what others think of me?!


Question: I never take criticism well. My first reaction to anything negative puts me in a panic, wondering "What did I do wrong?! How could I do this?!" and then "God, I'm such a freak of nature." I used to try to feel better about this by taking pride in being a "freak", but I feel like I'm avoiding the problem instead of reaching a healthy point.

Just don't worry. We can't please everyone all the time. Please yourself first. I'm at the same point more or less - avoidance - or acceptance. Whose view?. I'd say acceptance. I'm me.
But I've been back and forward about whether I I'm avoiding something.

If you've already started to feel proud about anything, then you're getting there. And you're not a freak.

But for goodness sake don't let anyone send you backwards. I get that around certain people. You don't need them.

edit. If you're anything like me, you'll reject this answer, as coming from someone too similar to you.. Maybe because you crave the acceptance of people who'll just never get you for what you are...

Remember that if someone has a problem with you... it is not you, it is them that have the problem.

Sounds like you need to boost your self confidence first. Once you're comfortable with yourself maybe what other people think of you will become less important. Remember, it's not about what others think it's about what you think. Once you have a higher self-confidence you'll handle criticism better too.

hun if people dont like you the way you r tell them get stuffed life to short just b you learn to love ya self then everyone eles willluv you.

Negative criticism if productive an true can be a good learning tool,because nobody is perfect and WE all have faults.But realize to we are all made in god image a there are certain things or gifts we have or things or skill we do really goodso.try to find out what you are good in no matter how small you think it is and do that/ a fill good about that don't wait for a pat on the back you pat you own back when you do good.,PRAISE yourself,and sometimes criticize only when necessary ..BE KIND TO YOURSELF.Please build self confidents you be in charge of how you feel you do not what other thinks.most of the time people are only thinking about themselves.
