Im feeling depressed?!


Question: Im a 13 year old girl and since janaury ive been feeling depressed
i get bullyed in school
i worry about my weight
i got a sister with autism
And Welcoem to my life by simple plan is just like my life at skool

If you aren't truly clinically depressed then what I have to say could help u.
Boy do we have a lot in common! I'm going to go through what that is as I give you the answers I've found work for me.
I was 10 yrs old & in 6th grade when the bullying started. U know why? Because I was big 5'9" tall then, & I wasn't aggressive-because I didn't want to treat people in a way that I wouldn't want to be terated. (I know this because I asked & was told that if they were as big as I was they would be even bigger bullies!) I responded by staring them down & letting them know that they weren't worth my time. It didn't end right away, but when they didn't get the reaction they wanted from me they eventually stopped. It's all about confidence-both internal & the way you appear to others-like standing straight with your head held high & a relaxed look on your face.
I lost 2 sisters-1 when I was 5 & 1/2 & 1 died on my 6th birthday. I have another sister that has a law degree & won't practice because of her phobias. I love her dearly & would do anything to help, but she doesn't want it, so I have to accept that I can only change myself & the way I look at the world. That keeps me from being depressed all the time. I also had to define what it would take me to be happy & I made it simple on purpose so that I could achieve it almost every day & anything else good that happens to me makes me work harder & makes me even happier. You might want to try these things. It's alright to feel bad for your sister-that shows me you know what your emotions are-but never try to hide them from yourself. I know all that does is allow them to build up & then I would feel hopeless, depressed, & powerless.
I used to be heavy & I thought that if I just lost some weight everything would be great. I lost the weight & gained muscle, but that wasn't the answer because I was thinking that if people thought I was Okay on the outside then I must be okay on the inside. It wasn't until I was okay on the inside that I was really okay on the outside & able to deal with whatever life threw at me in the right way.
You need to love yourself in a healthy way. That means being honest about how you feel with people you can trust, learning how to show up the bullies without being violent, (Unless it is to protect yourself-just remember don't hurt them worse than they hurt you, u only need to send them the message that their actions will not be tolerated by you.).
Remember: Not only look but act confidently. Learn to love yourself in a healthy way. You can only change yourself, & the 1st step is changing how you view life. (It needs to be a positive view.) Define what it would take for you to be happy & content almost all of the time. Don't be afraid to admit you were wrong, or need help. Exercise makes your body produce good brain chemicals as well as helps you physically. Bullies want a reason to get even more nasty-so don't give it to them. (Ask your parents to explain what being assertive means.) Treat people with the respect & concern u want to be treated with, as well as do respectable things. More good things will happen to you than bad ones. I keep a list of all the good things so I can call them up when I am feeling down. AND ALWAYS ADMIT, AT LEAST TO YOURSELF, HOW YOU FEEL. NEVER FORGET WHAT EACH FEELING IS, THEN FEEL IT & DECIDE IF U WANT TO KEEP IT OR THROW IT OFF OF YOUR BRIDGE TO HAPPINESS.

Please promise those who love you that you will work hard to get past this because the longer u wait the longer it takes to cross that bridge to happiness.

I think you need to speak to someone about all this. if not your parents, maybe you have another relative or a teacher you trust? People can help you if you ask them. You shouldnt have to suffer like this on your own.

DO NOT turn to self-mutilation.. talk to an adult that you trust. You going through adolescence so that could be the cause. dont do anything to hurt yourself sweetie. talk to people like friends, and adult you can trust. talking helps.

Pray and ask Jesus to help you. i promise if you trust in him, he wont let you down...

well i don't have any family with autism but when i was your age i use to worry about my weight just know that i was huge but as i was growing everything fell in to place about depression every day i see more and more people with the same problem even myself maybe some counseling will help :( bullied!! girl get ready to kick some *** this is a tough world dont let people take advantage make them respect you sometimes but only sometimes you have to act as crazy as them ;)

pls talk to your parents and/ or doctor. please. some doctors surgerys have a councillor that you can have an appointment with and chat to. there are many groups out there that can help you because there are many teenagers suffering with depression and bullying. good luck, dont give up hope and seek help. i did and i'm through it now. xx

Dont give up! Face lifes demons and your light will shine through. Dont worry about your weight your 13 when you start growing it will shed. Shine, your a beautiful person. Hope your ok
