Concentration issues?!


Question: see i used to be a great student....used to concentrate and study...mostly one month before the exam but i used to study wid full heart....and now im going my MSc..(graduate studies) and im 21...and well ijm following the same method since my school days...but i jus cnt freaking concentrate!!!...every five mins i keep hopping around...distracting myself....logging onto yahoo answers(like so)....whats wrong with me? why cant i concenetrate?? how can i make myself realise the gravity of the situation?...also wen i study i am under complete house arrest...i jus stay in the house for a whole month sometimes dnt evn bathe for days....er....do i need a shrink?? HELP

If you cannot go easier on yourself, you may need to see a counselor.
You sound like a perfectionist who is swamped by "all or nothing" thinking.
If we just keep on pushing only one aspect of our lives and personality, we become unbalanced.
When I was young I was a lot like you, and I absolutely thought that by the power of my will, alone, my mind could over rule my body.
Eventually, something has got to give and that takes different forms in different people.

Hmm, I have the same problem but I have ADD. Maybe you should tell a doc about your problem and they could help you out, like they did me.

I'm not qualified to provide medical advice. However, you might try not to play up your expectations and/or get trapped in peer- or family-driven high aspirations. You need to relax, loosen up and take it easy. And be careful about what you eat or drink. Exercise. It might help.

Get some light exercise such as walking around your neighborhood or even throwing some darts. It is not possible for anyone to be able to concentrate on a task for a long time. Taking a break every 15 or 30 minutes would be a very good way to study more efficiently. So just take it easy, relax and know that the ultimate goal of life is to live in peace and happiness. Work or study always come after that. There is nothing wrong with you; you are human. You need to have fun the maximum hours of study I suggest is 3-4 hours a day. Anything more than that will have an adverse effect. If it is possible for you to get out in nature, i mean like countryside or a forest, please do so because in that way, you will truly be in touch with the beauty of the world and make your study more enjoyable.
