Is there any hope for someone who has to take a drug to be happy?!

Question: I take anti depressants, anti psychotics, mood stabilizers, and it just doesn't work. I have to self medicate to be happy. My brain just doesn't work right and has never worked right in my entire life.

When are they going invent a happy pill? One that doesn't make you intoxicated? Just happy?

Believe me when I say I feel for you.
There are lots of people that feel the same as you, including myself, but I dont take medication I just cope.

Day after day you feel hopeless. There really is no point, why should I care? But, when I talk to counsellors, they tell me that there is hope...that one day you will be like everyone else. What? NO. I know that there won't be any change, so who are you to tell me any different? You don't even know me, and you can tell me what my life is going to be like?

It doesn't have to make sense. It doesnt even have to be real. But, there are people, as many have discovered that are feeling worser than you, if not the same. I suppose that is hopeful to know.

The best type of happy pills are smarties. Just seeing those multi-coloured, sugar coated, calorie laden, chocolate sweetness will bring a smile to your face. Maybe you could even arrange them into colour co-ordinated groups and create a picture of a smiling person, because one day, that smartie-man will be you...

All the best in your quest!

I feel the same way you do only I'm not taking anything.

Yes there is always hope

You just have to find them your love partner will always be there to help when things get bad.

And you will feel wanted for what you are and what you can give and receive.

So you see it sounds better already.

Just don't be in a hurry to find the special one even when spring is in full bloom they will show them selves in due time this spring

Awe, Of course there is hope for you! That is an awful lot of stuff to be taking i could only imagine how it must make you feel. i had to take anti-depressants for a longtime, and they made me feel emotionless i wasn't sad or angry but not happy either. Sometimes it is something as simple as changing your anti depressant and finding one that works better for you, try getting involved in things that you enjoy doing, stuff that makes you feel good. If you feel mopey don't let yourself lay around go out for a walk or watch a movie, hang out with friends. I hope you feel better!

Drugs are only masking the real problem. In fact, they can interfere with healing the underlying problem. You are in charge of your brain and what to think, how to think.

What is happiness? Happiness is the fulfillment of your needs (not wants!) When you fulfill all of your needs, you will be happy until your needs change. For example, you can eat and feel satisfied, but you will be hungry again. Your needs are in a constant state of change. You will need nutritious food, water, sleep, etc. periodically. You can earn self-esteem by doing a really good job on something, but you will need to earn more self-esteem again in the future.

So do not expect to be perpetually happy until you take charge of your own mindset and work on consciously fulfilling your needs as they change from moment to moment.

If they ever make a "happy pill," you will become unhappy because you will stop fulfilling your needs! So what needs are you failing to fulfill? Physical needs like proper nutrition and water, adequate sleep, exercise? Emotional/social needs? Mental needs (obviously you are not). Needs for self-esteem and self-actualization? Get to work.

Paradoxically U.P., such hope is attempted be convincing by the pushing of the drugs.
Meditate. If interested I can send you directions on how to do it. Grecia.
Albert Camus, humanist /existentialist wrote "Hope is a kind of resignation" So are mood altering pills. The source of the problem is - what has to be gouged out. NOT make it dormant, yet still remaining operative.
Meditation forces the problem to surface from deep inside, then you tackle it from how you discover it, observe it once it outs.
