Does ADHD make you rude and disrespectful?!

Question: I posted this before but it didn't go through. My 17 year old friend acts rude and disrespectful all the time. When I stopped hanging out with him, he told me that he acts the way he acts because of his ADHD. Some things that he did are:
1. Rejecting the birthday gift that I gave him. He said, "Take this back and get me a real gift."
2. Telling my dad to clean dog poop off his sneaker when he was visiting my house.
3. Inviting himself to places without waiting for an invitation.
4. Throwing my possessions around.
5. Pushing me into my garage because I was beating him in a basketball game.
6. Being a sore loser.
7. Being critical of everyone except himself.
Am I doing the right thing by not hanging out with him or should I feel bad for him?

na thats just an excuse he uses to make him look like he cant control it but if he does take medication and still acts like that, then he is just trying to use you for the simple pleasure of being with someone just to take advantage of someone. it isnt an excuse to use adhd so do not take that crap from him. let him feel what its like to not be with is friends so he can understand hes just making stuff up and not to be rude or disrespectful to others. like a dog, train him and he will do good.

it can affect behaviour in that way because of poor impulse control. i would try to find out more before i totally ditch him as a friend. is he on medication? is he respectful when he's on his medication and then rude when he isn't? or is he rude all of the time (using ADHD as an excuse?)

i dont think adhd affects it
i have adhd and im not rude or disrespectful

I know many people who have ADHD. Most are hyperactive but are not complete jerks. This guy is a jerk who can't keep his mouth in check, using his ADHD as an excuse to treat other people like dirt. You should definitely stop hanging out with this dude. There is no reason you should put up with that kind of abuse. In a few years when he looks around and realizes he has no friends he is going to seriously regret treating everyone so rudely.

I would not see him until he learns to respect other people.
Unfortunately i see a lot of people using ADHD as an excuse for really bad behaviour.

Personally, he's an undisciplined brat, and i would not waste my time on him.

From the sounds of it, your friend is using his ADHD as an excuse for his behavior. And unfortunately, this is one of the negatives of how popular ADHD has become in recent times.

ADHD can affect behavior, and it has been known to make people do different things (beyond their control). But comments like those are most likely related to his values, manners, and respect for others.

There could be more going on for your friend, other than ADHD. And if his "symptoms" do cause him to be rude - I would say he has something other than ADHD.

Are you doing the right thing? Clearly something tells you that his behavior and comments are unacceptable. If you have told him your reasons for not hanging out anymore - then YES - you are probably doing the right thing.

As long as you are supportive, and not mean, you are being his friend by helping him out.
