HI there! First of all you should know that almost every 16 year old has ups and downs, (a lot!). In this day when there is so much negative stuff being thrown at you, especially on the news, it is hard to remember that most people in the world are actually good and very caring. The news only likes to report or should I say gossip, about the bad stuff. The bad stuff is much more rare which is why it is reported at all. The fact is that most people really are caring and in fact studies show that if people get the chance, most would rather help someone than not. There have been many cases of strangers jumping into a river, even a frozen one, to save a life. Others run into fires, and so on, so you should know that although the world seems hard and it is to some degree, there are still a lot of good people trying to make a difference. I would suggest that you find something you really love, a sport, art, or whatever, and spend some time working on it. ALso, a church is a great place to meet a lot of positive young people. They are not perfect but they do for the most part have a good heart and welcome people in. There is a big thing going on these days with young Christians in high schools and college, using abstinece, helping with charity and a whole of of things. Check out a youth group of various churches in your area until you find one that FEELS RIGHT. A church is like anything else, a doctor, or dentist, you have to go sometimes to several until you find the right one. You have to ask yourself certain questions.

Do I really want to hurt myself? Why? Why do I have phobias or do I? Sometimes, you may think so because others tell you so, but most of them don't know anything more than you do. If you do think so, you could have some problems, but usually they are not forgotten. In other words in real phobia, you do not forget about it!! Also, you are at a high hormone level right now being a teen, and a lot of it will begin to go away between 18-20. A human brain is not fully developed until age 25!! This means you are not thinking with a totally clear head until then. You do not have ocd, of that I am sure. As I said, you do not simply forget about a phobia. Everyone gets depressed sometimes, especially when they argue, so unless it is to the point where you really want to hurt yourself, then I would say you have a situation in your household that may be making matters worse. Take responsibilty for your actions by reminding yourself that your life belongs to you and you are the one that decides what you are or are not going to do in life. Parents are your guide, but they are not your whole being. If you are making bad choices, then stop it! I do not know what your situation is and therefore can only offer what I do know. If you are being abused then tell someone you trust. Abuse can also be verbal, but often with a teen it goes both ways. Parents however should set the example of correct behavior. Children learn what they see not what they are told. You are 16 and soon will be on your own. Forget everything that makes you feel negative and decide for yourself that you have had enough and start a new beginning of your life. Things get better. They really do. You need to do well in school, get rid of any negative friends, even change schools is necessary or get into a ged study program, which is like a cram course for high school. Many areas have such a program. You can contact your Board of Ed and find out if they have it. Do whatever it takes to take care of your best friend, (next to God), and that is yourself.
How do I know all of this? I have raised 4 children and have 2 grand children. I was an abused teen. I hung out with people who only got me into trouble. One day I was sick of it and got rid of ALL my old so called friends, got involved in the church, not the kind that go and gossip, but real Christians who know it is about more than going to church. I became a successful business woman, retired early, in my mid 50's, had 4 children and 2 grandchildren, and love life!! Well, this is long, but I hope it helps. You sound normal to me but something is up with you that would make you feel the way you do. Find out what it is and take charge. Change your life for yourself. It is a gift given to you by God, and he wants you to be happy. You have a choice! P.S. Watch this lady on TV. She is not boring or over board with religion in a negative way. She was also abused and went through a lot in life and now helps thousands of people. Joyce Meyer Enjoying everyday life. She is on a couple of times a day on cable. Good luck and GOd Bless YOu!

i don't think you have a problem. i just think your hormones are going crazy mine used to and kind of still are....... its normal... a lot of people say they've never gone through it but they have.

maybe you have bi polar disorder. i dont know much about that though. i have depression and post traumatic stress disorder... it doesnt sound like you ae either of those. but i guess everyone is affected by different disorders differently.

normal behavior is that of how an average person, or the majority of the population acts. Odd behavior such as what you've stated to being odd becomes a problem when it affects your everyday life. You don't seem to have a problem really, you're going through adolescence, many teenagers experience these "side effects" of adolescence.. I know I have. well anyways.. abnormal behavior becomes a real problem when it affects your everyday life, and makes you uncapable of performing everyday activities. BUT im not a professional.. I'm 17 and a junior in highschool, go talk to an adult you trust with your health, and if thats not a parent go talk to your guidance counselors at school or something. They can help too.
