With a midlife crisis, you could experience a period of intense personal and/or spiritual growth. You could make sweeping life changes and stop doing the things you "should" do and start doing the things you want to do. Some of the stories from "What Should I Do With My Life?" by Po Bronson are about people who have experienced things like that. I think a midlife crisis is facing what your life has been so far and assessing things. It is an uncomfortable time, and some people react to that discomfort by doing things impulsively. It is not necessarily a bad thing to experience.

Old age.

Surviving it would be a positive.

To find pleasure in your unique age and stage of life.
In doing so, there is a peace of heart and mind.
There is also the freedom to relax and enjoy your relationships, and that they would in turn enjoy you.

you can learn alot about your self and everyone around you

The best you can hope for is that you come out of it the other end still alive and not wrapped around the wreckage of whichever motorcycle you bought.

Oh, and that if you went into it married you come out of it the same way as to be blunt......guys tend to stray a little when the mid-life crisis hits home.

The positive result of surviving a mid-life crisis is quite simple: YOU HAVE SURVIVED! Enjoy the remainder of your life knowing that! What more does a person need than to realize that they are alive and well! Enjoy your victory over mid-life! You won't be bothered with it ever again!

If you had finsihed your mid life crisis you would know what the benefits would be. A mid life crisis allows you to stop and think what have I done with my life and is what I am doing going to be the rest of my life, am I really turning into my parent, am I really that old.
It's a time when people try to hold onto their youth. I don't know your situation but I know of people who have done really stupid things like leave their wife for someone young enough to be their daughter and as soon as the money ran out they had to go crawling back to the wife and left them both penny less.
When I had my mid life crisis I went back to uni and got a whole new job it turned out great.
Before you do anything THINK how will this benefit me and those that depend on me. Some people go out and buy a sports car.
