Can depression be proved physically?!

Question: Unless I am mistaken, the only way to diagnose depression is by the symptoms. Is there a blood test that can detect a lack of serotonin in the brain?

Answers: Unless I am mistaken, the only way to diagnose depression is by the symptoms. Is there a blood test that can detect a lack of serotonin in the brain?

No, as of yet there is no test for depression. The reason being, there is a broad spectrum of variation between each depressed person.

On a whole, if you take the average of all depressed people's brain scans you can see some differences to 'normal' brains, but there is not one change in the brain that can diagnose a depressed brain.

There is a blood test for serotonin levels in the blood stream, but this test is not routinely available in a doctor's office. Researchers are also able to check the serotonin level in the brain and spinal fluid, but this is complicated and may require a spinal tap. Even if one knows the serotonin level in the blood, this serotonin level may fluctuate throughout the day and basing treatment for depression on the serotonin level in the blood is not practical and probably not effective.

No

But depression hurts physically, somehow.

No test officially.
But you'll no doubt act different and have physical side affects.

no but if you no someone with depression it is very noticable

Well serotonin is something that the brain contains and we are born with it. You cannot force serotonin out of your brain. Ecstasy is a pill that people take to cheer them up. The problem is that ecstasy drains your brain of serotonin. One day you will feel ecstatic hence the word ecstasy LOL. In that case i can take 10 ecstasy pills and say i am happy. Diagnosis is not needed i think you can let it cure naturally. People end up in rehabs in our country so much because they think drugs like this would help. Viagra is also a drug that stimulates sexuality among people. The endocrine gland will finally run out of hormones. The human brain consists of cells that wear out every day. The other cells in the body are the same. The intake of daily nutrition with proper calories ensures the longevity of these cells. Radiation is used to treat dry cells on our skin. However too much exposure could affect you. Anyways im getting too anatomical. bye.

You are correct. no it can not be empirically proven.
Yes, subjective diagnosis of symptoms is right.
Which confirms there's no "chemical imbalance" horsecrap.

It is confirmed that various psychotropic medications can be effective in alleviating these symptoms.
