Prozac...?!
Question: I'm going to be starting to use 20 mil. of prozac soon for anxiety/panic/depression. Im only 15 and I'm scared it will give me bad suicidal thoughts (or just any weird thoughts) since it said:
"The FDA requires all antidepressants, including fluoxetine(prozac), to carry a black box warning stating that antidepressants may increase the risk of suicide in persons younger than 25. This warning is based on statistical analyses conducted by two independent groups of the FDA experts that found a 2-fold increase of the suicidal ideation and behavior in children and adolescents."
Anyone here ever take prozac for anxiety, panic, and depression whos 13-16?

When I was your age I took prozac, and paxil, which both were said to do that. When that warning came out, I was on paxil, and I asked my doctor to put me on something else because I was concerned about it. I did notice mroe suicidal thoughts, but with depression, it happens. The medication should help you, and if it worries you, talk to your doctor and have him put you on something else. Zoloft is a great one, it's what I switched to after the warning freaked me out.
Well im taking prozac for major depression and i've chaged alot i mean i feel more happy and all that stuff i first started with 10mg and now im at 30mg my therapist increases my dose every 2 or 3 months.I started on the prozac when i was 16 now im 17 ..
I took it for the majority of my teen years, and I was fine for quite a while.
Be sure to keep an open dialogue with your doctor to ensure that any problems you may have are addressed.
They can always tweak your dosage, or try you on something else. Just be sure that you tell someone if you start feeling odd.
All drugs just suppress symptoms. Because of this some people who were never violent will kill themselves or go on a killing spree. See site below for another reason for this that has to do with dopamine. All drugs also have side effects but they make money for drug companies.
A drug company has one purpose-- that is to make money and that is it. See site below and see a natural way to help depression by dealing with one of its causes. JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS. They teach that in school, right?
