I feel like just breaking down...?!


Question: does anyone know a way i can just calm myself down. i'm trying to write this huge paper for college, due on friday. i cant even pick out a topic. i'm having extreme personal issues about my love life, health problems, and my car is being fixed so i'm stuck sitting inside with nothing to do...i have a roommate that i'm not that close with so i cant just break down and cry...most of my friends go to different colleges so i dont really have anyone here to turn to...i feel like i dont know what to do with myself...can anyone give me any ideas of how to calm down? thank you.

and what really helps is to get a pen and paper
and write down what you need to get done. write down everything. it will help sort out everything that floating around in your head.'and you should really cry, you need to express tat emotion someway so it doesnt hold you back and keep you from writing your paper! so like go in the restroom or something, or when your about to go to sleep.
also this may sound lame, but journal!well idk if u want to do writing since u have to write a paper but yea. or listen to music. another thing is,
try not to think of what you can't do and what you can do.

how about this... u can choose to get affected by everything else in your life and screw up your paper OR you could give that paper your 100% and screw everything else.

take a breather...close your eyes, think of a happy place....since you have no car, go for a nice walk, get some fresh air. Who knows, while you're walking you might think of a topic. You can get to your paper later. If you give it your all you'll get it done sooner and you can worry about dealing with the other stresses in your life. Those can wait, college can't! Your education IS the rest of your life!

Just chill with yourself for a couple days cool off and nap maybe? Then write your paper and you will be fine.

i understand. just try and take some deep breaths. its whats best. everything turns out ok in the end, if its not ok its not the end. many people feel exactly as you do, it seems situations can only improve? you'll be fine.relaxing tea? some sleep? partake in something that relaxes you? marijuana? joking...kinda.

The pain of loneliness is a tough thing but you should get used to it and focus on one thing at a time,just be strong and never give up.

We are miserable because we are too much in the self. The tears and only the tears have the power to melt the ice. You are not breaking down, only the ego is breaking down to help you understand that all which is external is an illusion. You are on a wonderful path, really.

I absolutely know that feeling of absolute frustration. Check your phone book or online for a crisis hotline. I understand that you may not think this is that severe, and it may not be. But just having someone to talk to that is outside of the situation is sometimes helpful. They won't judge you and will listen for as long as you need them too. Take a deep breathe and know that brighter days are ahead.

Sometimes if we take a ten minute break to get away from ourselves and everything else, it works. If you need to take a half hour, take it. Go out for a walk, clear your head, look at other things, and I promise you, when you return from your break, you will have renewed energy. Think positive, no matter how difficult this may seem, just do it and things will turn around and fall into place. Take a deep breath now and then, and let it out, easy, that's it. Just make yourself relax, if you need to worry, do one worry at a time. I know you will be fine. And please don't sweat the small stuff.

That's a lot to deal with, yes.

But you don't have to deal with it all, all the time.

Set everything aside right now except your paper. Concentrate on just getting that done.

After you finish it, then you can look again at some of the other issues facing you, and pick them up again.

Also, since you're on a college campus, don't hesitate to go to the student services office and ask to see a counselor.

start that paper for about 5 minutes and stop every so often
its a big project so youre gonna feel overwelmed but if you do little bits it soon will get done

just breakdown one day when no one is around
scream into a pillow
punch the walls
break sh!t
and
...

when youre roommate gets home be like
um yeah
we got robbed :)

The best way to calm down is to take one step at a time.

If you haven't already done so, first decide on a topic. Just choose one. It doesn't have to be a perfect choice. Making the choice will instantly make you feel better. If you really can't get over this hurdle, choose the first question on the list.

Sometimes it is the indecision and procrastination that causes the anxiety.

Once you have your topic it's a matter of keeping focused on it. I would always write my chosen topic on paper in large writing and stick it on the wall. Then each time I lost focus or felt stressed, I'd look at the paper on the wall and remind myself of what I'm doing.
