What is the average price for phyciatric counseling?!

Question: I'm a psychotherapist.... here is the answer. Psychiatrist are M.D.s they are are the most expensive and nowadays they don't really do much counseling, only prescribe medication, so they can easily charge you between $150-$200 an hour if you want therapy. Psychologist have Ph.D. they do the therapy and talk to you, they can do psychological testing, unlike the psychiatrist which can't unless they are a psychiatrist and psychologist with both licenses. Psychologist do not prescribe medications. They average between $100-150 an hour, depends where you live and your income, and the psychologist experience. The last two are also psychotherapist which are LCSW (licensed Clinical social workers) and LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, formerly MFCC). Not all states have LMFT. The LMFT and MFT are Master's level therapist and do not provide medication or psychological testing. If you want therapy to talk to someone, the least expensive would be an MFT or LCSW. MFT's have their primary training on interpersonal relationships and self, and LCSW's have a specialty on social aspects of life and how it impacts the self. Over time and with experience, they all can provide the same type of work, each only has their specialty. Hope this helps
