Tips for remembering someone who's deceased?!

Question: I lost my father about 10 years ago, and am now 19. I sometimes find it difficult to remember much of him, but I feel like I still do have memories it's just a matter of tapping into them. Any tips for doing this?

this is so important, but carry a picture of him and look at it daily that way you don't forget what he looks like.
Buy a special journal and title it memories of dad. Whenever something pops into your head -whether it be a story or a way he used to make you feel- write it down. That way when you are older and the memories keep fading you can read this journal and be reminded. Plus it may help spur other memories.
I am so sorry for your loss.

play sports that u used to paly with him.
do things that only u and him used to do
do things he used to

do things that you used to do with him

Get a corkboard and put up pictures and stuff like that. Put it in your room and make it like a little memorial.

Get a mannequin from a department store and dress it in your dad's old clothes. Glue a picture of your dad's face tot he mannequin's face. Talk to the mannequin like he's your dad - even get in arguments with it. When your friends come over become outraged if they don't talk to him too. Make your mom sleep with the mannequin everynight.

I would start with looking at pictures that you can find of your
father. Do you remember having photos from past vacations?
You could also talk to your mother or other relatives that knew
him. Think about what you do remember about him. Are
there things that belonged to him that you could look at?
Try to remember anything that makes you think of him and try
to remember why you remember these things?
Most of the time it is just a matter of finding a trigger that
will bring back the memories.
One last thing is look up what music was popular when your father died. That is always a good trigger.
I wish you luck. When you do remember something. Write it down. Start a diary of sorts so that you can remember
these things. The longer you wait to try and remember the
harder it gets.
