16 and Bipolar?!

Question: Ok, so I've never been tested for any kind of mental illness....I just thought I had severe severe depression, but now I'm thinking I'm Bipolar. Idk....But all I think about is my looks, weight, death, and I'm always bashing ppl that make me mad for no reason, I cry all the time, I can't make it to school, it makes me feel like throwing up. I've been like this for 2 years. I have a horrible mouth, I sleep a lot a lot. Help!! I want to die, but I also want to live.

hey,
Well first of all I think even if you might not like the sound of it, but I think you should see your doctor if you havnt already. Although sometimes theres not much they can do but perscribe anti-depressants. Perhaps you should consider contacting an organisation-they can be helpful its worth trying.

Bipolar disorder is considered a manic depression which is changing back and forward from normal mood to mania. SYMPTOMS include suspiciousness, concentration difficulties, sleep disturbances, hallucination and voices in head.

Now im not saying that you have it or anything, just offering some detail on it. Do what you think is best, but dont do it alone.. all the best.

Nothing there sounds at all bipolar.

Go see your doctor. If you've been in the grips of this for two years, that's long enough. Your boot straps broke. Time to get help.

Well Bi polar is when you have Extreme low's fallowed by Extreeme highs. So if your not getting exetremly happy then you don't have it xD Thats all i can say. Talk to your doctor.

that is depression. Not bi polar disorder. And it's natural for your age. Depression isn't always constant. Sometimes it is off and on. That doesnt mean you are bi polar. You being obsessed with your looks and weight - just get over yourself. You are most likely in high school still and thats all you think about because you have nothing else to worry about. once you get older you will realize it doesnt matter. It wont bother you. Like i said, its natural. You always bashing people is just a form of anger and taking your depression out on other people. I have been there done that. I have been on celexa, prozaq, zoloft, ametripiline, wellbutrin, valium, xanax, paxil, etc. Now I have bigger things to worry about... I am seeing a neurologist on the 11th for a possible brain tumor. Seriously, you are no different than 16443465434864 other 16 year olds. Its not the end of the world! I hope for the best for you - it will be ok... don't worry. This is a little rushed so hopefully I made some sense and didnt sound rude. If you need to talk emails are fine.

Update: I do have an anxiety disorder and it doesnt sound like one. If you think about school and it makes you feel like throwing up - it could just be depression. Depression can cause anxiety (which accounts for nausea) but is not considered an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders are when that alone effects you, depression aside. Yes, your doctor can help you with this, and will prescribe you medication for it. But be careful... medicines sometimes aren't right for people.

You could be bipolar...

But to me, the not being able to get to school and feeling like throwing up, the sleeping a lot, suggests an anxiety disorder , possibly generalized anxiety disorder (look it up) with a mix of a little depression. Mood swings could be bipolar, but it also sounds to me like just normal teenager plus having to deal with anxiety issues on top of it, my moms a psychologst plus I have an anxiety disorder so I understand a little bit, but Im not expert myself. You need talk to your doctor about the way you feel so you can get better!

I suggest look up "GAD symptoms" on google, see if any of it applies ot you...i think it will.

Here are some common ones:
1. Feeling wound-up, tense, or restless
2. Easily becoming fatigued or worn-out
3. Concentration problems
4. Irritability
5. Significant tension in muscles
6. Difficulty with sleep
7. Depression
8. Chest pain
9. Nausea
10. Constantly worrying
