PTSD can be very persistent if not treated, and treatment can be very effective. He needs to see a psychologist specialising in PTSD.
Talking about the experiences can help, but can be very hard on the listener which is why it's best done by a therapist. When I was a mental health nurse I treated a lady with PTSD who had seen her husband die horrifically in a traffic accident. I had to listen to the ghastly details over and over, but she needed to do that to get better as it was the only way to stop her mind constantly reliving it. Good luck

talking to a professional helps, i was over there and i have a little ptsd, ( i cant be in crowded places ) , but there is definitely people he can talk to, a shrink perhaps, but it might stay with him forever depends how bad it is and how he copes with it

this site may be of some help to you all the best

i have PTSD. with couseling, and occasionally medicine, it usually doesnt last forever. signs are odd moods, feeling depressed, scared, anxious etc..it really depends on what the trauma was for that instance. i suggest calling a therapist, and just getting their opinion. what could it hurt? it couldnt do anything but help him...good luck =)
